Review Acer Travelmate 8371 Timeline Notebook

The Slim One. In the meantime, the Acer Timeline Series is availa

Case quality; Non-glare display surface; Long battery life; Efficient computing performance; Low weight; Chic and slim design; Very quiet battery mode; Includes XP Professional as a downgrade via recovery DVD; Docking port and fingerprint reader

Fan runs almost permanently; Meager software equipment; UMTS not yet available; Interface connection isn't ideal; Restricted display opening angle

It's own Aspire Timeline 3810T managed to come closest to our test model and is also available with a dedicated graphic, UMTS and at a somewhat lower price. The MSI X340 and the Lenovo Ideapad U350 (currently being tested) are available with only...

Acer TravelMate Timeline 8371-944G32N - 13.3in Laptop

Acer produces a business version of its Timeline design, adding a fingerprint reader, docking connector and a business-friendly design.

If you're a businessman who has always wanted an ultra-portable but couldn't justify the expense, the TravelMate Timeline 8731 should make you very happy. Its outstanding battery life and realistic price are its best points, but it also retains enough...

Acer TravelMate 8371 review

Does swapping power for battery life and mobility pay off in this business laptop?

Excellent battery life ; Brilliantly mobile ; Well-specced

Not great performance ; No optical drive

A fine business machine, but limited for other users - or those who need a disc drive

Acer TravelMate TM8371 notebook

Earlier in the year, Acer announced its TravelMate 8000 Timeline series - a set of notebooks designed for business users that combine performance, security and battery life. It's clear the Acer TM8371 is a business-oriented machine. It packs excellent...

Excellent battery life, thin and light

Looks very boring, poor gaming performance

It's clear the Acer TM8371 is a business-oriented machine. It packs excellent performance and oodles of battery life into a very thin, very light, but very dull frame. It doesn't win any awards for gaming performance, but we don't suspect that's what...

Acer TravelMate laptop

Whenever a new technology comes along there will always be the early adopters, those people who must have the latest features regardless of the price. If you fall into that category then you'll be in for a treat with the Acer TravelMate 8215WLMi. Sony...

Blu-ray drive, super powerful

Expensive

The core specification of the Acer TravelMate 8215WLMi can’t be faulted and the fact you get plenty of power and battery life, makes it an ideal notebook. If you can live with the ageing GPU and less than perfect screen, all in the name of having...

Acer TravelMate 8371 - Amazing battery life

We are starting up our laptop reviews after a bit of a hiatus, and here in the fall we will be trying out a number of different laptops from previously reviewed manufacturers. To start with – a Timeline from well-known Acer.

Very mobile ; Good display ; Simple design ; Good battery life

No optical drive ; Too much useless software that requires registration

The Acer TM8371 is a decent computer for the student or traveller in that it offers a long battery life and does not take up too much space. The computer is simple in its design and thus physically user friendly. However, it contains way too much...

A TravelMate Timeline Laptop : Acer Timeline TravelMate 8371

As a regular user of an Acer TravelMate laptop, I was pleased to receive one of the company's 8000 Timeline series for review. This was the slim-line TravelMate 8371 which is aimed at the business users and currently comes with Windows Vista Business.

Decked out in a matt black case (not everybody needs or wants a reflective sheen) with dimensions of 323.6 x 228 x 26mm (W x D x H) in its closed state, this laptop is not going to show you up when you bring it out in company whether in the home,...

AcerTravelMate Timeline TM8371

Acer claims its TravelMate Timeline business range offers all day working in a thin and light design. We took its 13.3in model for a spin to see if it lives up to the claims.

With frankly amazing battery life, lasting as long as 10 hours under light use, and some excellent specifications make this great for those on the road. We didn't like keyboard that much but overall this is an excellent value package.

Acer TravelMate Timeline 8371T. A well designed companion

Summer is upon us and many of us are off to warmer pastures, but we still find the time to do a review now and then. With the fact in mind schools and universities will soon start up anew, we aim to do a number of hot reviews for the student segment.

Battery ; Display ; Materials ; Weight

Performance (only slightly!) ; Noise

Acer delivers a solid product when it comes to the more physical aspects. The overall feel is great and it appears to be made of more than just cheap materials so you don't feel ripped off. This is pretty important when you cross that £500-600 threshold.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

you need to own one

Not a good case, but good price. Not very sturdy, and tends to come apart if you lift/ pull it.

excellent battery life, easy 5 hours with wireless and power save mode ON ; very light, making it easy to carry around ; I used to use a netbook, which are slow and cant ran many applications, getting non-responsive but not this one. Also if you are...

The only con i found was that, after waking up from standby the fingerprint scanner can act up and you may need to type in your passwords instead of scanning your finger. Happened 3 times in the last one month
