ASUS G1S

The ASUS G1S is a high-end media laptop with gaming in mind.

Well-designed laptop. Fast processor. Great price. Very good gaming performance.

Not for professional gamers. All four USB ports are in the back. Atrocious battery life.

Asus G review: Asus G

Asus G

A rare attempt at building a 15-inch gaming laptop comes close to succeeding; bold design; surprisingly strong battery life.

Frame rates can't compete with bigger gaming laptops; nonconfigurable; as heavy as some 17-inch models.

The Asus G1 is an interesting concept--a gaming laptop squeezed into a midsize case--but its lack of 3D muscle will fail to satisfy hardcore gamers.

Asus G1S

The G1S is well equipped with the latest features to get you through the next couple of years. Though the system does come with four USB ports, all of them are in the back. Every time I plugged in my flash drive, I had to reach all the way around to do...

The ASUS G1S is not the best gaming laptop by a long shot. But very good performance scores, an affordable price, and a great design make it an ideal media center/gaming system.

Asus G1S-A1 Review

My 4-year old Dell Inspiron 8600 was getting old and unstable, so I decided to start shopping around and got very frustrated with the usual big manufacturer names. They touted customizability for their notebooks, but sometimes only allow one choice. I...

Solid build quality from the high quality screen to the minutiae such as the tactile feedback from the keyboard, touchpad and buttons ; Very good processing performance ; Decent pricing ; Very nice aesthetic that is well suited to its gaming purpose

Poor speakers ; Minor problems such as clumping of the USB ports and personal preferences for the positioning of the Home, PgUp, PgDn and End keys ; Bloatware

The battery life is decent for the G1S. I watched a movie on the power saving mode and the battery went for 2hrs 30 minutes with about 6% left. Not astounding battery life, but definitely decent for this sized laptop

Asus G1 Gaming Notebook Review

The Asus G1 is marketed as the 15” mobile answer for the hardcore gamer enthusiast. The G1 is a sharp looking package that meets the requirements of most of today's best games and entertainment applications. The configuration for the machine reviewed...

Awesome screen & resolution ; Solid case design & good looks ; Fast performance ; Nice mouse & backpack ; 2-year global warranty ; MS Vista capable

Bloat ware by Asus ; Slow hard drive ; Poor speakers

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I knew from prior experience that laptop speakers are tiny and sad, so it was no surprise when they sounded poor. Performance is akin to my home-built desktop* when running most software, although the hard...

Asus G1 Review

This is a review of the G1 Gaming Laptop by ASUS. This laptop defies traditional categorization since it provides gaming performance while maintaining a mobile capability. Normally gaming notebooks are isolated to larger entertainment style laptops...

One of the best gaming laptops in this screen/body size ; Sleek, solid design ; Unique, cool features ; 2 year global warranty ; Upgrade eligibility to Vista ; 1799 is an affordable price for a gaming laptop

XP Media Center rather than XP Pro ; OLED may be difficult to customize ; Few options with Direct Flash ; Slight Light leakage ; Bloatware ; No ExpressCard Slot ; LCD can wobble when shaken

Since the sister system, the G2, runs rival chip maker ATI's (now AMD) X1700 GPU comparisons are inevitable. So here are my two cents: You can wait for the G2 to come out, but if all reports are to transpire you may see a performance edge on the G1 due...

Asus G1S

The Asus G1S series came out around late 06 early 07. Back then it was billed as a " Budget gaming notebook". So how does that claim hold up 1 year later? It seems the term "gaming laptop" has been reserved for only the most über overpowered machines ,...

This notebook is dead sexy. Every so often I find myself going Holy **** this notebook looks awesome. The outside casing of the laptop is a smooth , glossy , carbon fiber-esque design in black with a silver Asus logo in the middle. On the inside is a...

ASUS G1S 15.4" Gaming Notebook

Despite having a number of models available, ASUS is still not a name that's synonymous with notebooks. But one thing is certain, they don't push out poorly designed products. We are taking a look at a perfect example of what a quality notebook should...

Whenever we receive a notebook for review, we have it at most for two or three weeks prior to it being sent back. That wasn't the case with the G1S, however. In all, I've been using the notebook periodically for the past 75 days, 19 of which it was...
