Asus ROG Zephyrus S

The Zephyrus S is among the most portable gaming laptops you can buy, but short battery life means you can't stray far from an outlet. On the charger, though, it's an attractive and capable high-end machine.

Super-slim design with powerful components. Sturdier build than predecessor. Capable of 60fps maximum-quality gaming, if only just. Narrow screen bezels. 144Hz display refresh rate. Multiple USB-C ports.

Short battery life undermines portable form. Keyboard and touchpad design take getting used to. No G-Sync support. GPU can't leverage 144Hz screen in many games.

Bottom Line: The Zephyrus S is among the most portable gaming laptops you can buy, but short battery life means you can't stray far from an outlet. On the charger, though, it's an attractive and capable high-end machine.

Asus Zephyrus: a super-slim gaming laptop has a trick for cooling that you have to see

The new Asus Zephyrus showcases Nvidia's Max-Q design, with a hidden kickstand cooling panel under a superslim gaming laptop.

The super-slim design of the Asus Zephyrus hides excellent gaming performance and a powerful Nvidia 1080 graphics card. The hidden kickstand vent provides cooling while not interfering with portability.

The large cooling vent feels flimsy when opened. The display tops out at standard HD resolution, and the misplaced touchpad on the far right side is tough to get used to.

Asus has created a surprisingly slim Nvidia 1080 gaming laptop in the Zephyrus. It's expensive and has a few design quirks, but it's also very portable and just plain fun to use.

Overall, the Asus ROG Zephyrus is a great gaming laptop that’s both powerful and thin. I really liked the Asus ROG Zephyrus but it is fairly expensive when you can get similarly specced gaming laptops for slightly less but not as thin of a design.
