Asus UL50VT-RBBBK05 review: Asus UL50VT-RBBBK05

Asus UL50VT-RBBBK05

Nvidia switchable graphics; thin frame; good battery life.

Underpowered processor for the price.

With switchable Nvidia graphics and a thin design, the Asus UL50VT-RBBBK05 sacrifices power for longer battery life, while still managing to be a gaming-capable notebook. For its price, though, you could buy a laptop with a faster Core i3 CPU.

Asus UL50VF-A1

The 15-inch Asus UL50VF-A1 CULV-equipped laptop takes advantage of two GPUs, which can switch seamlessly with a new Nvidia technology called Optimus.

Two GPUs. Nvidia Optimus can seamlessly switch between the two GPUs. Excellent battery life. Full size keyboard and numeric keypad. Sleek looks. Lightweight.

Processor is sluggish for a 15-inch system. Mouse buttons scratches easily and are tough to press.

Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05 review: Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05

Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05

Very thin; solid design; good battery life.

Slower than a typical Core 2 Duo laptop; no Bluetooth.

The design and portability of the Asus UL50AG make it one of the slickest 15.6-inch DVD-drive-equipped laptops we've seen, but an ultralow-voltage processor compromises its computing power.

Review Asus UL50VF Optimus Laptop

Optim{us/al?} The UL50VF is a 15.6" version of the slim Asus CULV

Automatic graphics card switch thanks to Optimus; Low system noise; Cool case temperature; Long battery life

Glossy display; Mediocre viewing angles; Despite overclocking, a weak Intel Core 2 Duo; Glossy surface in the hand-rest region

Obviously the other UL50Vx models, like, for example, the UL50VT, but also the Timeline series from Acer.

ASUS UL50Vf Review

The new ASUS UL50Vf is an update to the popular 15-inch UL50Vt and offers the all-new Nvidia Optimus switchable graphics. Why are we reviewing this modest update? Because Optimus is honestly the first switchable graphics solution that works like it...

Great switchable graphics ; Excellent battery life ; Reasonable performance

Weak build quality ; Low-res screen ; A little expensive ; The only switchable graphics you should care about.

Asus UL50Vt

It doesn't quite live up to its own battery hype, otherwise Asus' thin and light laptop is pretty good.

Instant boot, Includes number pad on keyboard, Good battery life

Cheap plastic finish, Low screen resolution, Cramped keyboard

ASUS UL50Vf Notebook Review - NVIDIA Optimus Takes the Stage

The ASUS UL50Vf notebook is a refresh of the popular UL50Vt. Nearly the only difference between these two models is the adoption of NVIDIA's Optimus Technology which allows for automatic graphics switching technology versus user-initiated toggling....

For the seamless use of discrete NVIDIA graphics, the integration of NVIDIA Optimus in the ASUS UL50Vf creates a perfect match for a notebook and users by only using discrete graphics performance when they need it.

Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05 Laptop

If you are in the market for a thin and light laptop but do not want to encounter the typical obstacles with such a design (a smaller screen and no optical drive), then take a look at the Asus UL50AG-RBBBK05. The UL50AG is a mainstream 15-inch laptop...

The result is decent performance, especially with respect to other thin-and-lights or netbooks; still, it's not as impressive as other laptops in the 15-inch size range. Many will probably be willing to make that sacrifice, however, as the UL50AG does...
