Though fast, and in possession of a beautiful 1440p display, this Zenbook stumbles under the burden of its outrageous price.
The UX301LA is, in many ways, a worthy step forward for the company’s already excellent Zenbook line. Besides its elegant, eye-catching design, the system shaves off weight and improves display resolution while still providing decent battery life,...

A premium MacBook alternative with nearly every high-end spec imaginable.
The Asus Zenbook UX301 packs in a lot, including a better-than-HD touch screen, big 256GB SSD, and Core i7 processor, in a slim, smart design.
It costs more than most comparable better-then-HD laptops, including the Retina MacBook Pro. The Zenbook doesn't feel as rugged as its price warrants, and its battery life is unimpressive.
Asus was one of the first PC makers to go ultra-thin with its Zenbook line. That latest UX301 version packs in nearly every high-end spec you'd want, but it's priced out of reach for most, and lacks an all-day battery.

A few years ago, nearly every PC maker had its own version of the idea ultrabook (some would call them MacBook Air clones), with a slim body, low-voltage CPU, 13-inch screen, and a premium price. In 2014, the nearly identical laptop everyone needs to...

Dark beauty. It's small. It's a premium product. And it's fast. We almost don't dare to call the new Zenbook UX301 an "ultrabook", as it attempts to be much more than that: the perfect mobile companion. With the top-notch materials, great build quality...
Slim case, premium materials; Superb input devices; High CPU performance; Extremely fast SSD RAID system; Bright, high-resolution display; Great connectivity options; Decent battery life; 802.11ac Wi-Fi
Reflective display surface; Mediocre webcam; Limited expandability; Expensive
Most comparable devices come from Apple, ranging from the more mobile MacBook Air 13 to the more powerful MacBook Pro 13 Retina. Other alternatives might be the Samsung 740U3E, the Sony Vaio Pro 13, the Acer Aspire S7 or the Dell XPS 12.

A sleek body covered in glass and metal, an awesome screen and a fast hardware platform. All these put together make the Asus Zenbook UX301, one of the most interesting premium ultrabooks of the moment.
solid and nice looking body, decent keyboard and trackpad, awesome screen, great performances, good battery life, punchy speakers
some design quirks, expensive
OK, so wrapping up this review, there are for sure many things you will like about this ultrabook, like the sleek body, the awesome screen, the good keyboard and trackpad. However, you do get most of these, slightly better or worse, on other good...

As I wrote about at the beginning of March, I bought the ASUS Zenbook UX301LA-DH71T Haswell-based ultrabook to replace an Apple Retina MacBook Pro as my main system. I've been using this latest Zenbook with Intel Iris Graphics and dual SSDs for several...

A fourth generation Intel Core i7 CPU with Iris graphics, a RAID 0 array, and a 1440p screen all make the latest ASUS Zenbook one of the most appealing Ultrabooks on the market
High resolution screen ; RAID 0 array ; Well built and comfortable to use
The SD card slot leaves cards half exposed ; Relatively short battery life
ASUS has made a few changes to its Zenbook since we last saw it, both in terms of looks and configuration options. It continues to be an appealing Ultrabook, especially if you want a high resolution screen and fast performance, but it still needs a...
