Dell Inspiron 17 5000 Series Non-Touch

The Dell Inspiron 17 5000 is a nice-looking desktop-replacement laptop that offers good productivity performance and decent battery life for a very affordable price.

Affordable. Solid productivity and multimedia performance. Relatively long battery life.

1,600-by-900-resolution screen. Integrated graphics. Noisy clickpad.

Conclusion With the Dell Inspiron 17 5000 Series Non-Touch, you get a lot of laptop for $450. Granted, its 17.3-inch screen won't display high-definition content at 1080p, but it displays 720p with aplomb and delivers vibrant colors. At this price you...

Dell Inspiron 5000 G700VT

Dell's latest SpeedStep notebook offers top-notch display and long battery life.

Dell fans will like the Inspiron 5000 G700VT, but others should consider Quantex's W-1511, practically the same machine for $288 less.

Dell Inspiron 5000 G650VT

Powerful portable boasts latest processor and huge hard drive.

Companies who want top mobile speed paired with a great presentation and graphics screen should consider the G650VT; others should wait until the new SpeedStep processors step down in price.

Dell Inspiron 13 5000

The Dell Inspiron 13 5000 is a solid 2-in-1 with a comfy keyboard and strong audio, but its display does not impress.

Solid performance; Comfortable keyboard; Strong audio

Dim, dull screen; Undercarriage gets hot; Slow SSD

Review: Review: Dell Inspiron 13 5000 (8th Gen) 2-in-1 notebook computer

Tablet or 2-in-1? That's the question often facing portable computer purchasers. Perhaps the balance has been tipped little in favour of the former

Good value for money, good performance, very good touch pad, includes active pen

No USB Type-C

Review: Review: Dell Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 computer

Makers of Windows-based portable computers have been quite inventive in recent years, thanks in part to the excellent support for touch screens

Solid build, can pretend to be a tablet, fine display, good performance, good battery life

Not much, except perhaps USB Type-C would be useful

Dell - Inspiron 5000 G650LT

One of the heaviest SpeedStep notebooks at 3.6kg, the Inspiron is also the most obviously intended as a desktop replacement, with its 650MHz SpeedStep PIII chip, 128MB of SDRAM as standard, large 12GB hard disk, 6-speed ...

Great work laptop with a large screen

- The market is light on large screen laptops that aren't gaming laptops; this is one of the few. - You might consider replacing the HDD with a SSD for more speed/responsiveness (I haven't yet, but it's a possibility)

- 17" screen -- needed for spreadsheets - Good amount of memory - Solid processor - Large HDD

- When displaying to a second screen over HDMI, the secondary screen must be connected during boot-up for audio over HDMI to work. Screen sleep will cause the audio over HDMI to stop working (laptop speakers continue to function). I haven't determined...

Impressive

Definitely recommend this computer to anyone that plans to use their laptop for any graphic purposes over any other 15" screen. It's increased my efficiency instantly.

Great resolution/Big screen Quiet and sleek for such a big size of laptop Shipping was faster than expected..surprisingly fast

It's a bit heavy but all 17" laptops are heavy
