Dell Inspiron 15R-5520

The revamped Dell Inspiron 15R-5520 desktop-replacement laptop brings third-generation Intel processing power to a 15-inch notebook for under $600.

Affordable. Third-gen Intel Core i5 technology. Good performance.

Reflective display has narrow viewing angles. A tad bulky. Medicocre battery life.

Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition (7520)

The Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition is a well appointed media laptop that delivers fast frame rates and is powered by the latest Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge technology.

Solid Core i7 performance. Switchable graphics. Fully loaded.

So-so battery life. Bloatware. Bulky.

Dell Inspiron 15R (I15RN-5882DBK)

The Dell Inspiron I15RN-5882DBK doesn?t win many first-place medals for features and performance, but it?s above average in both areas.

Loaded with good hardware. Fine performance. Includes two USB 3.0 ports, WiMAX support.

Other similarly priced laptops are more powerful. Some bloatware preinstalled.

Dell Inspiron 15R-2728MRB

The Dell Inspiron 15R-2728MRB is a solid desktop replacement offering Core i5 power, a Blu-ray drive, and a strong feature set.

Blu-ray drive. Good productivity performance. Feature rich.

Dell Inspiron 15R-1847MRB

Although it has the latest features, the Dell Inspiron 15R-1847MRB would be a better desktop replacement laptop if it came with a bigger battery and a better graphics chip.

Blu-ray drive included. Fastest Core i3 processor on the block. Excellent keyboard. Soft mouse buttons. Large 640GB hard drive. HDMI and eSATA.

Lackluster battery scores. Not for gamers.

Dell Inspiron i15R-2106MRB

The Dell Inspiron i15R-2106MRB provides more than enough power for day-to-day computing tasks, and does so at a price that won't break the bank.

Good design. Sturdy construction. Competent computing performance. Blu-ray drive. Spacious 640GB hard drive.

The rear placement of USB ports will be irritating to anyone with a thumb drive. Battery life won't survive on a cross-country flight.

Dell Inspiron 15R review: Dell Inspiron 15R

Dell's Inspiron laptops have always been the brand's middle-of-the-road workhorse: equally likely to turn up in a dorm room or coffee shop as at your mom's kitchen table. Dell periodically gives the series a physical makeover, but small differences in...

Decent performance and design for a reasonable price; excellent battery life.

Not as customizable as previous Dells; too many built-in advertising pitches.

Dell's updated Inspiron line has a slightly revamped design, but more importantly still offers workhorse performance for a minimal investment.

Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition Review

If you're looking for a laptop with better performance than an entry-level machine but you still have to stick to a budget then this Dell might be just what you need.

Beautiful 1920 x 1080 Full HD Screen ; Base configuration specs are very generous for the price ; Sturdy build quality and aluminum finish helps looks ; AMD 7730M graphics provides some gaming ability, stays cool

Thick and bulky with a weight of 6.4lbs ; Battery life is limited to around 3 hours ; Slow 5400RPM hard drive is standard

Review Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition Notebook

interchangeable display lids ; sturdy surfaces ; 4x USB 3.0 and Blu-ray optical drive ; 1 year in-home service ; solid input devices ; brigth, non-glare HD-Display ; decent speakers

so-so built quality ; heats up under load ; short battery life

Dell not changing the name of the new models and making things confusing for the customer
