Dell XPS 15 9570 review

Excellent design ; Port selection is well-rounded ; Long battery life ; Doubles as a capable gaming PC ; Good value despite high pricing

Bad webcam placement ; SSD suffers slow write speed

The 2018 version of the Dell XPS 15 better than its predecessor in every way. While its look hasn’t changed, it remains a star in all the areas that matter most. Dell even upgraded the graphics card without increasing the price. There are a couple...

Dell XPS 15 9570 Review: A 6-core Core i7 makes it all worthwhile

Dell's XPS 15 9570 takes one of the most beloved 15-inch laptops and drops in a wickedly-fast 8th gen CPU Core i7, plus better graphics.

6-core 8th gen Core i7 CPU ; Faster GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Only space for a single M.2 SSD ; Low-mounted webcam

Based on current pricing, we have our favorite among the many XPS 15 options available. The unit we received for review, with its Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q, FHD panel, and 256GB SSD, cost at the time of this writing. Dell has...

Dell XPS 15 (9570)

Though showing its age, Dell's XPS 15 is still the sleekest desktop replacement on the market, from its terrific 4K touch panel to its beefy six-core CPU. It's a great pick for everything from video editing to 1080p gaming.

Light and compact for a 15.6-inch laptop. Potent six-core processor. Stellar 4K touch screen.

Dated design. Only one Thunderbolt 3 port. Up-your-nose webcam angle.

Bottom Line: Though showing its age, Dell's XPS 15 is still the sleekest desktop replacement on the market, from its terrific 4K touch screen to its beefy six-core CPU. It's a great pick for everything from video editing to 1080p gaming.

The world's smallest and thinnest 15.6-inch two-in-one comes with some sacrifice

Showcasing a new hybrid chip developed by Intel and AMD, the 15.6-inch convertible has power for content creation and gaming in a superslim body.

The Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 9575 is the smallest, thinnest in the category with strong performance from its hybrid Intel/AMD chip and a gorgeous 4K-resolution display that goes nearly edge-to-edge.

Its new keyboard design isn't the most comfortable typing experience. Its 4K display doesn't do battery life any favors. Nothing but USB-C ports means you'll need dongles and docks.

Dell's XPS 15 2-in-1 moves the 15.6-inch convertible category forward with a host of premium features, but the overall design does require some sacrifice.

Dell XPS 15 Review

Strong overall and graphics performance; Excellent battery life; Bright, vibrant screen; Runs cool; Attractive, if dated, design ; Awkwardly placed webcam ; The Dell XPS 15 offers serious power and nearly 12 hours of battery life in an attractive chassis.

Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 Review

The Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 offers an incredible screen, great performance and an amazing keyboard, but it has short battery life and an awkward webcam.

Strong performance; Excellent screen; Fantastic low-travel keyboard

Below-average battery life; Webcam still looks up your nose

Dell XPS 15 9570 (i9-8950HK, 4K UHD, GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q) Laptop Review

Too much power? After checking out the Core i5 and Core i7 SKUs, we're now finally ready to benchmark the Core i9 version of the XPS 15 9570. In short, users are better off investing in more storage, RAM, or faster graphics than to plop down an...

fast 1 TB Samsing PM981 NVMe SSD ; faster than the Core i7-8750H SKU ; quiet fans under low-medium load ; long battery life

red and violet could be more accurate out-of-the-box ; very marginal boost over the i7-8750H ; less stable than the Core i7 SKU ; PWM at lower brightness levels

There's a reason why the same Core i9-8950HK runs much faster on the thick and heavy MSI GT75. To get the most out of the Core i9 CPU, the cooling solution must be up to snuff to sustain faster Turbo Boost clock rates at reasonable temperatures. As of...

Dell XPS 15 9570 (i7, UHD, GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q) Laptop Review

More performance – but also better? We already reviewed the base model of the current Dell XPS 15 9570 and now check the more expensive SKU with a faster Core i7 CPU as well as the high-resolution 4K UHD touchscreen. How does the slim chassis handle...

high quality case with compact footprint ; good performance utilization ; good accessibility of the components ; decent 4K screen ; Thunderbolt 3 ; fast SD reader ; decent gaming performance ; good speakers

soft-touch surfaces and touchpad attract fingerprints ; coil whine ; high color deviations ; shorter runtimes compared to the 1080p SKU ; mediocre Wi-Fi performance

More CPU cores, faster graphics, and more pixels – is the more expensive spec of the XPS 15 9570 the better choice? No, at least not for every user. The good performance utilization of the CPU and GPU is definitely a positive aspect, which is not...

Dell XPS 15 2018 9570 (8300H, GTX 1050, 97Wh) Laptop Review

On the fast lane. Dell's XPS 15 has entered a new year and we have begun by testing the entry-level model. Will the 15-inch device continue to throttle? What battery runtimes can the 97-Wh battery offer? Does the Core i5 offer sufficient performance?

high-quality case ; compact size ; runtimes of up to 16 hours (Wi-Fi test) ; silent while idling/under low load (office) ; maximum volume lower than that of predecessor ; higher performance than predecessor ; components inside easily accessible ;...

soft touch surface and touchpad tend to show fingerprints ; not ideal Wi-Fi performance ; PWM - but only at 10% brightness

Not much has changed from the outside, but users of the XPS 15 2018 will soon notice: Dell has managed to make an already very good notebook even better. Its emissions, battery runtimes and a detail in the port selection have been improved. The result...

Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 review: A great display meets a noisy fan Review | ZDNet

The aural parts of the XPS 15 2-in-1 detract from its impressive visuals.

Top display ; Good silicon ; AMD GPU allows for some gaming ; Four USB-C port options to power the device

Fan is loud ; Battery life disappears when GPU is engaged ; Extreme levels of crapware
