Eve V review: The wisdom of the crowd mostly pays off

The Eve V was designed by users for users, and while a lot could have gone wrong, very little did. It's a well-built machine considering the relative inexperience of the company behind it, and it offers solid performance and a great screen at a...

Great build quality ; Bright, beautiful display ; Comfortable keyboard ; Lots of ports ; Modestly priced compared to the Surface

Active pen isn't as precise as others ; Keyboard doesn't always perform well over Bluetooth ; Speakers sound lifeless ; Slightly heavy for a tablet PC

Eve Technology Eve V review

Solid build quality ; Plenty of ports ; Excellent display ; Great battery life ; A few unique features found nowhere else

Keyboard could be better ; Performance is held back by a low-power CPU ; Pen technology is way behind the curve ; Company's ability to deliver is uncertain

The idea of crowdsourcing a major piece of hardware like a detachable tablet is intriguing, and the Eve V is certainly designed in accordance with its community’s demands. It’s also late, meaning that some design decisions — like the pen technology,...

This Surface Pro killer compromises on performance

Crowdsourced ideas can sometimes work out really well.

The Eve V comes loaded with a fanless aluminum design, a brilliant display and a decent number of ports.

Performance isn’t as strong as some of the competition and the kickstand doesn’t stand up to the excellent one on the Surface Pro. It may be hard to get one unless you already preordered through its crowdfunding campaign.

The crowd-designed Eve V offers competitive pricing and a better feature set than the Surface Pro, but getting your hands on one will be the real challenge.

Eve V review: can a scrappy upstart undercut the Surface Pro?

Back in May, I met a young CEO called Konstantinos Karatsevidis at the Computex Taipei trade show. His company, Eve-Tech, has an unusual pitch — why buy computers from massive companies like Dell...

Great screen ; Strong battery life ; Lots of ports ; Good value

Unproven reliability ; Unconventional availability ; Heavy by tablet standards ; Backspace key says “oops!”

Beyond the rebellious marketing and convoluted back story, the Eve V is just a really good computer. If Eve-Tech can follow through on supply and reliability — and that may be a big if — I absolutely recommend it.

Eve V Review: dreams can come true

Microsoft has never had good luck with its own hardware outside of the Xbox. And when it did strike gold, the company may have suddenly decided to take things in a different direction. Rumors of the Surface Pro's imminent demise and the OEM fallout...

Bright “retina” IGZO screen ; Keyboard functions both wired and wirelessly ; eGPU support via Thunderbolt 3 ; 2 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB-C, 1 x Thunderbolt 3 ; Decent battery life

Completely flat power and volume buttons are hard to find

Eve V (m3, i5, i7) Convertible Review

From the crowd to the people. It has been about a year since the Eve V project made waves on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. The financial goal was achieved within a record time and finally even exceeded by more than 1800%. Now the time has come...

high-quality unibody case, robust construction ; comfortable feel of tablet and keyboard ; Thunderbolt 3 and Type-C Gen. 1 port ; good WiFi performance ; complete package with keyboard dock and pen included in the price ; keyboard also suitable for...

rather heavy in comparison ; included Type-C charging cable wiggles ; dirt-resistance of the keyboard is questionable ; performance of the m3 version is inconsistent with our expectations ; additional gains of eGPU are heavily limited by the CPU ;...

And here it is, the new people's convertible Eve V! Here is a summary of our test: The Eve V is an attractive device, but it should not be over-estimated.

Eve V Review

For a first-generation product, the Eve V is remarkably solid. It's especially impressive when you consider its direct competition - the Surface Pro - is well entrenched in the Windows tablet market and known to be an excellent option. From my...

Eve V review: A premium tablet designed by committee (that turned out pretty well) - Liliputing

Plenty of small companies run crowdfunding campaigns to raise money and generate buzz for their new products. Eve-Tech went a bit further with its new tablet. The Eve V wasn't just crowdfunded… it was crowd-developed.

Overall, the Eve V is a nice looking computer with a great screen, surprisingly decent speakers, and a $799 starting price that puts it squarely in Microsoft Surface Pro territory.

Eve V tablet hits shipping delays, may get screen upgrade as a result

The Eve V tablet is basically what you'd get if Microsoft had polled run a series of surveys asking users what they want before shipping a Surface tablet. Because that's pretty much exactly what Eve Tech did when designing this crowdfunded tablet, which .

It’s still a little unclear whether simply

A Surface Pro clone with a crowdsourced twist. Eve Tech asked potential buyers and tech dreamers on the Internet what they'd like to see in a variant of the popular Microsoft Surface Pro. Some really good things come of this like USB-C, Thunderbolt 3,...
