HP Omen 17 (2019)

HP's flagship Omen 17 blends an attractive design with strong performance to make a solid big-screened gaming rig. It's a good value, although its fans could be quieter and its upper configurations don't offer a configurable per-key backlit keyboard.

Powerful gaming performance with full-power Nvidia GPU. High-refresh-rate G-Sync display. Lots of factory options. Decent speakers. Gaming macro keys and Thunderbolt 3 port.

Noisy cooling fans. Keyboard backlighting is dim and not per-key configurable. Brief battery life.

HP Omen 17 (2019) review: Solid performance that's shockingly affordable

HP's Omen 17 has a reputation as a solid performer with a budget price, and its 2019 model follows suit. It's a heavy gaming laptop and the battery is a bummer, but a full RTX 2070 at this price? Believe it.

Full-size Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 ; Bright and vibrant 144Hz display ; Great bargain

Heavy, and even heavier with power brick ; Zone lighting, not full per-key RGB ; Mediocre battery life

Still, for the money? It’s hard to knock the HP Omen 17. That’s been our verdict for a few years running now, and it suffices for 2019 as well. It’s neither the lightest laptop nor the fastest, but HP’s made smart choices when it comes to kitting out...

HP OMEN 17-cb0588na 17.3" Gaming Laptop - Intel® Core™ i7, RTX 2060, 1 TB HDD & 512 GB SSD

Very powerful machine. Massively out performs my old desktop gaming machine

Battery doesn’t last long when gaming. Don’t count on it being something you can use on your lap as it gets very hot when gaming

HP OMEN 17-cb0588na 17.3" Gaming Laptop - Intel® Core™ i7, RTX 2060, 1 TB HDD & 512 GB SSD

I love the finish of this laptop, it is a polished metal and I love the raised screen hinges, it gives it a nice look when opened. I have found this laptop to be a very good performer in all games I have tried (Most recently Call of Duty Modern Warfare)

The battery life is poor and the fan can get very noisy during gaming, but the most concerning things for me is the heat generated from the battery pack it get very hot very quickly

Great screen and gpu speeds, cpu is very good indeed for the bundle. Great for gaming.

Fan can get a bit loud after an hour, Windows 10 home is basic and no over clocking the gpu. Battery file is low but it’s normally on a desk due to the size of screen.
