Disappointing display. The Pavilion 15 offers a ULV quad-core processor, a dedicated GeForce graphics core, and a solid-state disk. The greatest weakness of this device is the disappointing display.
matte display ; Full HD resolution ; hardly warms up ; SSD ; fast storage card reader ; AC WLAN ; backlit keyboard
dark display with poor contrast and unstable viewing angles ; only one year warranty ; difficult maintenance
With the Pavilion 15-cc107ng, HP has a 15.6-inch all-rounder in its offerings. The built-in ULV quad-core processor offers more than enough computing power for all the usual application scenarios. The dedicated graphics core enables the limited use of...

Power play. HP is pushing the limits on how powerful a Pavilion system can be without calling it a gaming notebook. The Pavilion 15 Power is the best and potentially most expensive in the series yet.
AMD RX 550 and GTX 1050 graphics options ; dual internal storage bays; NVMe support ; 1080p touchscreen and 4K UHD options ; stronger chassis; improved design ; powerful gaming performance ; no major CPU throttling ; respectable battery life
uneven surface temperatures; warm palm rest ; lid could be more rigid; slightly more teetering ; system fans always active; loud under load ; no Thunderbolt 3 or DisplayPort ; unimpressive internal speakers ; difficult serviceability ; limited color...
The Pavilion 15 Power is the stronger and more easily recommendable notebook compared to the standard Pavilion 15 if HQ-class CPUs and Pascal graphics are desirable options. The chassis is a significant update to the point where even typing feels more...

No frills gaming. The Pavilion 15 is a great blend of multimedia and performance gaming in a modest and portable multimedia chassis. Its connectivity options and serviceability, however, leave a lot to be desired.
primary and secondary 2.5-inch storage options ; very good gaming performance for the size ; good colors and grayscale ; bright display backlight ; thin, attractive design
system throttling under extreme loads ; uneven surface temperatures ; no USB Type-C port; no mDP ; plastic palm rests feel cheap ; loud fan noise when gaming ; soft clickpad; poor feedback ; no NVMe or RAID 0 options ; system fans always active ;...
The new Pavilion 15 is the intermediate between the GTX 950M-equipped Pavilion 15 of 2015 and the latest GTX 965M-equipped Omen 15 launched just a few weeks ago. Thus, it's also priced accordingly at a few hundred USD less than the entry-level but more...

Affordable all-rounder. HP demands 500 Euros (~$647) for its all-round Pavilion 15 laptop. The buyer gets a Full HD screen alongside a GeForce 840M GPU, and a Core i5 processor. Can you really go wrong with this device at this price?
Matte, bright, Full HD screen, Decent application performance, Gaming suitable, Good battery runtimes
Low-contrast, viewing angle dependent screen, 12 month warranty only, Fast-Ethernet only, No maintenance cover
The buyer will find a decent, all-round laptop for a price of 599 Euros (~$776) in the Pavilion 15-p008ng. The Core i5 processor and GeForce 840M graphics core provide the necessary computing power in everyday life as well as in performance-devouring...

Slim all-rounder. It's a slim 15.6-inch all-rounder including a touchscreen that Hewlett Packard has with its Pavilion TouchSmart 15. A Core i7 and GeForce core provide enough computing power. Owing to the ULV CPU, the laptop should also offer long...
Decent application and gaming performance; Modest power consumption; Good battery runtimes
Dark screen with bluish cast; 12 month warranty only; No VGA out; Fast Ethernet only
Hewlett Packard only includes a 12-month warranty at a purchase price of 800 Euros (~$1088). The competition offers more here. Why HP installs such a dark screen is also inconceivable.

Long-lasting and economic. A slim laptop featuring a Haswell processor for 499 Euros (~$671) doesn't sound bad at all. Our test report reveals whether the Pavilion can stand out from the innumerable contenders. ...
Good application performance; Decent battery runtimes; Low power consumption; Quiet operation; Slim appearance
12 month warranty only; A slightly too dark screen w/ bluish cast
Hewlett Packard only includes a one-year warranty while the competition often offers two years.

The HP 15 is a fairly competent laptop, at a very affordable price tag. Meant for someone who wants a machine for basic tasks, with a very good battery life. The 15.6-inch screen is one of the best in the category. Featuring a good keyboard and...
Excellent battery life, Well built, Crisp display, Precise keyboard
There will be performance limitations, after a certain point

If you're after a large, no-frills laptop then the Pavilion 15-au072sa definitely fits the bill. At the time of writing it's available for just £399.99, yet packs in the latest Intel processor technology and has plenty of features.
A decent enough option for budget buyers, but cheaper options offer the same basic experience and you only need spend a little more to get a much better screen.

A decent general-purpose laptop with solid battery life.
Brilliant battery life ; Large hard drive ; Low price ; Pleasing styling ; Full-sized keyboard
Unimpressive screen ; Single-channel memory ; Flimsy construction ; Rattling optical drive ; Poor core performance
If you're looking for a straightforward laptop on a tight budget, the Pavilion 15 does more than its pricing might suggest. You won't be playing the latest games on it, and anything that is too processor-intensive is going to take a while, but it's not...
