Huawei Matebook X WT-W09 review

The Matebook X is a superbly engineered laptop that puts Huawei's competitors on notice.

Huawei MateBook X

The Huawei Matebook X is a super-slim laptop with a slick design at a reasonable price, though it lacks the pizazz and features of competing ultraportables.

Super-thin design. Sharp display. Includes a port dock.

No touch-screen option. USB-C only. So-so battery life.

The Huawei MateBook X may not wow with its battery life or feature set, but for $1,099, it offers a nice design, solid construction quality, a sharp display, and decent speeds. You can get more storage and port options in slightly pricier laptops, some...

Huawei MateBook X laptop review: more beautiful than useful

A throwback to the bad old days of Windows laptops

Lovely, durable design ; Great-sounding, Dolby-endorsed speakers ; Minimal display bezels and unusually low reflectivity ; Comfortable, spacious keyboard

Dysfunctional touchpad ; Evanescent battery life ; Can’t take it anywhere without dongles

The Matebook X is a bizarro MacBook Pro

The Huawei Matebook X is a supremely sleek 13-inch laptop that bears a striking resemblance to the MacBook Pro.

The Huawei Matebook X has a stylish aluminum design that impresses everyone who sees it. It has a Dolby Atmos audio system and its power button doubles as a fingerprint reader.

The US price is still not confirmed, configuration options are limited and it lacks a touchscreen.

The thin, light and fast Matebook X is a tempting MacBook alternative for Windows 10 fans.

Huawei MateBook X (i5-7200U, 256 GB) Subnotebook Review

Novice with space technology. Huawei's first laptop in the fashionable 3:2 format convinces mainly with its case and the excellent screen. The innovative cooling system is particularly interesting. Initially we had problems with the input devices, but...

well-built case that offers a good presentation... ; ...with a very stiff lid ; compact, very small bezels ; 3:2 screen format ; well-thought-out adapter is included ; DisplayPort via USB Type-C ; fingerprint sensor integrated into the On/Off button ;...

the device itself only has 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C ; no Kensington, no card reader ; keyboard has a slightly spongy feel ; contrast is not optimal ; reflective display ; hardly usable outside ; massive CPU/GPU throttling during long constant high load ;...

In our opinion, Huawei's debut in the notebook market has succeeded. The well-built MateBook X in the emergent 3:2 format is very compact, sturdy, looks good, and brings a new, passive MEPCM cooling system, which is good enough for normal operation to...

Huawei MateBook X review: Work in style with this elegant Windows 10 laptop

While Huawei primarily focuses on smartphones, last year it released the MateBook Windows tablet. This year, Huawei announced two laptops and a tablet as it continues to bring its smartphone innovation to the desktop.

High quality design, fit, and finish ; Long battery life ; Liquid resistant keyboard ; High screen-to-body ratio with minimal bezels ; Compelling Dolby Atmos speaker system ; Fast Windows Hello fingerprint scanner

HUAWEI MateBook X review (2020): best ultraportable?

In our HUAWEI MateBook X review for the 2020 model, we're trying to find out whether this is the best ultrabook out there today.

About the only thing stopping us from saying that this is potentially the best ultrabook out there is competition from HUAWEI itself. We wouldn’t hesitate if there wasn’t a HUAWEI MateBook X Pro, but then again, we’d hesitate to call that one the best,...

Huawei MateBook X Review

Usually I'd advise against buying a first generation effort, regardless of brand or device. That's especially true for new device categories, but it still holds true for established machines like laptops. When a company jumps in for the first time,...

Huawei Matebook X review: The cost of a Windows PC with a MacBook design

Good in many ways, but you're really paying for the Apple-like design.

If you buy the Huawei Matebook X, you do it because you want a MacBook-style PC that runs Windows. It's a perfectly fine device, and it surpasses Apple's laptop with practical features like the integrated fingerprint sensor, the extra USB Type-C port,...
