Lenovo Chromebook 500e review: An uncompromising little convertible

This affordable two-in-one nails all of the basics.

The tough Chromebook 500e gets the job done as a laptop and tablet, with a comfortable keyboard, responsive (included) stylus and solid battery life. Two webcameras.

Chunky, plastic aesthetic. Mediocre display. Limited to online apps.

Well-suited for basic online use, the 500e is sturdy, portable, long-lasting Chromebook that competently doubles as a tablet.

Lenovo 500e Chromebook

If you can live with its low-res screen, Lenovo's semi-rugged, fully flexible Chromebook convertible is a winning choice for classrooms and consumers alike.

Sturdy enough for grade-schoolers. Two USB-C and two USB 3.0 ports. Stylus included. Impressive battery life.

Low native screen resolution. No HDMI port. Ho-hum audio. Two cameras don't add up to one decent one.

Bottom Line: If you can live with its low-res screen, Lenovo's semi-rugged, fully flexible 500e Chromebook convertible is a winning choice for classrooms and consumers alike.

Lenovo 500e Chromebook Review

The Lenovo 500e Chromebook is a durable touch-screen laptop with great battery life, but its design is bland and it's uncomfortable to use.

Durable, MIL-STD-810G tested; Spill-resistant keyboard; Above-average battery life; Decent color on display; Good sound

Ugly design; Uncomfortable keyboard and touchpad; Glare on display

Lenovo 500e Chromebook 2nd Gen Review | Trusted Reviews

The Lenovo 500e Chromebook 2nd Gen is a budget-friendly laptop running on ChromeOS that's been designed with small children in mind.

Budget-friendly price ; Child-proof build quality ; 2-in-1 design and bundled stylus ; Decent performance and battery life

Small, low-resolution display ; Ugly design ; Not a lot of storage space
