Lenovo IdeaPad S10 gets reviewed

The folks at Laptop Magazine already offered up a few thoughts on Lenovo's IdeaPad S10 netbook after they got their hands on one last month but, as is their nature, they've now followed things up with a full review now that the unit is actually ...

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Laptop Review

Great software suite for a netbook ; Some smart nips and tucks

If only it had a bigger touchpad

This retake on the S10 is still a finely-tuned netbook, but this update really could've used a bigger touchpad.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 (Red)

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 (Red) is one of only two netbooks with an ExpressCard slot, but is that enough to make it outshine its peers?

ExpressCard slot. Different color options. Extended 52-Wh battery is included. Featherlight. Very good battery life. Decent performer. Linux preload is nice.

89 percent keyboard doesn't make the cut. Noisy mouse buttons. Tiny touchpad.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 4231 review: Lenovo IdeaPad S10 4231

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 4231

Improved battery life, includes quick-start interface.

New battery adds thickness and weight; some awkward keyboard compromises.

Lenovo fixes our main issue with the S10 Netbook by adding a larger six-cell battery.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Mini-Notebook

Faster than its mini-notebook brethren, the Lenovo S10 offers enough perks to make it a top pick for serious mobility.

Huge hard drive ; Great backup utility software

Slightly loose mouse buttons

If you're looking for a big, beefy hard drive and surprisingly sprightly performance from a mini-notebook, the IdeaPad S10 is a solid pick. If the S10's slightly cramped keyboard and loose mouse buttons are deal breakers for you, Asus's Eee 1000H would...

Review: Lenovo IdeaPad S10

Never one to let a trend pass it by – even a year or so after it's hit prime time – Lenovo is finally getting...

Amazing combination of price and performance. Sophisticated, decidedly non-toy-like styling. Touch-typing is as easy as it gets in this category

White laptop, white power brick, black power cable: Epic design fail! Some trouble getting USB hard drives recognized. Sub-two-hour battery life and slightly dim screen are letdowns on an otherwise near-perfect device

Lenovo IdeaPad S10

A blend of wisely chosen parts makes the Lenovo S10 a netbook to look out for.

Runs the Intel Atom platform. Big 10-inch screen. Very light. 160GB hard drive. ExpressCard slot.

Needs a bigger battery. Noisy mouse buttons. Its 90 percent keyboard falls short of the competition.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 review: Lenovo IdeaPad S10

Lenovo IdeaPad S10

Includes ExpressCard slot; decent keyboard.

No SSD hard drive options; unimpressive battery life.

Lenovo's "me, too!" entry in the Netbook sweepstakes, the IdeaPad S10, gets the price and features right, but falls behind on battery life.

Review Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 Netbook

Stable case, High-end looks, Long battery life, Quiet and cool, Awesome! A glossy lid completely without greasy, ugly fingerprints. Lenovo has earned the gratitude of many agonized netbook users

Yielding keyboard, Not AR coated, Low application performance, An AR-coated display would have made the mini to an almost perfect companion. But this way, many will likely cross out the S10-3 from the shopping list

The IdeaPad S10-3 is so new that the manufacturer didn't even have the time to put it on their German product homepage. The S10-3 M33D6GE black is already listed in online shops, though. The price of 329 euro shows that Lenovo doesn't regard the price...

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Review (Update)

What might look like a giant beefy hinge for the 10-inch display is actually the new 6-cell battery with a small hinge on either side of the tiny laptop. The larger battery doesn't add much bulk to the netbook, but the two-tone appearance makes this...

Small and light but well built and durable ; VeriFace provides simple security ; Easy to upgrade RAM and hard drive ; 6-cell battery is great ; ExpressCard slot offers extra expansion options

Gets a little hot ; Only two USB ports ; Quick Start OS is nice, but not entirely practical ; What happened to Bluetooth

The headphone jack on the S10 works well with the three different brands of earphones I used during the test. No static or other noise was noticed through the jack besides imperfections in the audio source itself
