Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (4th Gen, 2016)

Durable and long-lasting, but slick and thin, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the business laptop to beat.

Lightweight for a 14-inch laptop. 2,560-by-1,440 (WQHD+) IPS display. Dual pointing devices. 10 hours of battery life. Durable. Comfortable keyboard. Three-year warranty.

Lacks USB-C. New docking system. Ethernet requires dongle.

While it's about $100 more expensive than the ThinkPad 450s, the latest Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon has a higher-resolution 14-inch screen and a sublime keyboard, it's a pound lighter, lasts over ten hours, and is covered by a longer warranty. The...

Lenovo upgrades the X1 Carbon with touch, Windows 8

One of last year's top laptops get a post-Windows 8 update.

Lenovo takes its solid 14-inch ; and upgrades it with Windows 8 and a touch screen, while keeping the excellent keyboard.

The touch screen makes the lid thicker, and the touch pad can be finicky at times.

The business-oriented Lenovo ThinkPad X1 adds must-have features for 2013, and remains a very impressive business-oriented ultrabook with strong crossover appeal.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016) Review

With a brilliant screen, long battery life and awesome keyboard, the 2.6-pound ThinkPad X1 Carbon is as pleasant to use as it is to carry.

Bright, colorful screen; World-class keyboard; Strong battery life (with 1080p screen); Blazing-fast SSD

Lacks Ethernet and full-size SD card slot; QHD Screen has so-so endurance

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 20FB-005XUS Notebook Review

Carbon footprint. We compare our second more affordable Core i5 FHD SKU against the pricier Core i7 WQHD SKU to see if it's worth saving some few bucks for less pixels and performance power.

no CPU or GPU throttling on battery power ; excellent keyboard and touchpad ; slim design; strong chassis ; respectable battery life ; easy serviceability ; brighter backlight ; WWAN support ; quiet fans ; no PWM

Unable to maintain maximum rated TUrbo Boost speeds ; Narrower color gamut than the WQHD SKU ; hinges could be more taut ; fingerprint magnet ; no USB Type-C ; slow charging ; soldered RAM ; pricey

With strong alternatives available like the MacBook Air or XPS 13, the pressure has been hard on Lenovo to keep the ThinkPad X1 Carbon series going strong. The latest model feels better than ever as detailed in our previous review of the unit and its...

Review: Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 4 business ultrabook

It's Lenovo 's most beloved business laptop: the X1 Carbon. The fourth-generation model has been released, and it's as beautiful as ever, bringing the best aspects of the X1 Carbon line and refining them with updated hardware, a lighter weight, and a...

The Lenovo X1 Carbon keeps getting better, and the fourth generation is no exception. The laptop is lighter and thinner than ever, but it doesn’t alienate its fanbase, sticking to the same general design as past models. Performance has improved, as...

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2016 (Core i7, WQHD) Ultrabook Review

Slimmer is not possible. Already the third generation of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon belonged to the slimmest and lightest 14 inch notebooks on the market. In the fourth generation, Lenovo goes one better and reduces the weight to below 1.2 kg. We have...

ultra light and slim case ; excellent input devices ; fast wireless connections ; high-resolution and viewing angle stable display ; high system performance ; low system noise and temperature ; good battery life ; 3 years warranty

slightly wobbly display hinges ; LAN only via adapter ; no USB Type C ; hardly any upgrade options ; very high price

E460, L460, T460, T460p, T460s, and now the X1 Carbon: It appears that Lenovo wants to fill even the tiniest niche with a ThinkPad model. We do not want to judge here whether this is really necessary or reasonable - but help to find the best device for...

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (4th Gen) review: More connections, but no touchscreen

Lenovo has delivered another impressive ThinkPad X1 Carbon, albeit one that's distinctly evolutionary. Connectivity is improved, but the touchscreen option is gone and battery life could be better.

Lightweight yet solidly built ; Superb keyboard ; High-resolution screen in more expensive models ; Three USB 3.0 ports ; WiGig support ; Mobile broadband support in top-end model

Expensive ; No touchscreen ; Disappointing battery life

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016)

Fourth time's a charm? Maybe so with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th generation. Not that the previous generations were slouches-- quite the opposite, in fact! The new 2016 model is an evolutionary improvement with the better screen we were pining...

Slim, light yet strong. Fantastic keyboard, very good display, good port selection

No touchscreen option, no USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon faces some serious competition, even within Lenovo's own overlapping lineup where the ThinkPad X1 Yoga and ThinkPad T460s beckon. The X1 Yoga brings a 360 degree hinge, touchscreen and a Wacom pen for $300 more. The T460s...

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016) review

A reboot with loads of potential

11-hour battery life claim ; 16GB of RAM ; WQHD screen

Pricey ; Marginal upgrade to 2015 ; No touchscreen

The 2015 version of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon was a solid performer. We expect the 2016 version to be equally solid with a few nifty enhancements added.
