MSI GT80 Titan SLI

The MSI GT80 Titan SLI is a powerful gaming laptop, and the first we've seen with a mechanical keyboard, but top performance doesn't quite overcome a hulking, awkward design.

Potent performance with an Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor and dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M graphics. Unique design with mechanical keyboard. Giant 18.4-inch display. Components are easy to access and upgrade.

Clunky design. Short battery life.

Conclusion The MSI GT80 Titan SLI is impressive in a lot of ways. It offers powerful graphics performance, an easy way to access components for upgrading, which is relatively unheard of for notebooks, and the first full mechanical keyboard in a laptop....

MSI GT80 Titan review: A crazy-fast gaming laptop with an old-school desktop keyboard

MSI's has a real mechanical keyboard, and enough graphics power to tempt even the most committed desktop gamers.

SLI 980M cards capable of 4K gaming ; A mechnical keyboard

Bulk and heavy ; As expected, battery life is mediocre at best

MSI's GT80 Titan SLI features an actual mechanical keyboard and a pair of GeForce GTX 980M GPUs in SLI. That makes this laptop actually faster than the majority of gaming desktops out there.

Poor battery life, even for a gaming notebook; Speakers could use more bass ; With its face-melting performance, a fantastic mechanical keyboard and upgrade-friendly chassis, the MSI GT80 Titan SLI is the gaming laptop to beat.

MSI GT80S Titan SLI Review

The GT80S 6QE gaming notebook not only delivers two GTX 980M graphics cards and a mechanical keyboard that made the GT80 so impressive, but also leverages a new Intel Skylake processor and DDR4 system RAM for even greater performance.

Outstanding performance ; Fantastic mechanical keyboard ; Great speakers ; MXM graphics cards and multiple upgrade options

Loud cooling fans ; Sometimes odd mix of metal and plastic ; Uneven screen brightness ; Wake from sleep issues

MSI GT80 2QD Titan Notebook Review

Larger than life. Where else can you find an 18.4-inch notebook with integrated mechanical Cherry keys? We revisit the GT80 with upgraded Broadwell specifications.

Mechanical Cherry MX Brown keyboard, 6x storage bays total, Relatively low core temperatures; Strong cooling system, Acceptable fan noise when gaming, Overclocking headroom, High quality and bright matte display, Rigid, high quality construction, Good...

No tactile Numpad; No Macro keys, No external desktop GPU support, No comprehensive fan controls, No Thunderbolt; No HDMI-in, No 2K/3K/4K options, No PCIe x4 slots, No G-Sync, Fans are always audible, GPU switch requires restart, Soldered CPU

The bottom line is if you're going to get an 18.4-inch gaming notebook, then make it the MSI GT80.

MSI GT80 Notebook Review

Megalomania. The MSI GT80 exceeds typical gaming standards in weight, but also surpasses in terms of the features and performance, including the mechanical keyboard and the SLI configuration with two GTX 980M chips. We tested the 18-inch monster.

Mechanical keyboard with red illumination, Excellent maintainability, Generous port variety, Graphics cards with MXM interface, Up to five storage solutions, Moderate temperatures, Very good display, Outstanding performance, Powerful sound, Many...

High noise development under 3D operation, Bulky and extremely heavy chassis, CPU & GPU throttling in the stress test, Battery is drained under maximum load, Battery not directly accessible, Huge power consumption, Exorbitant price, Huge power adaptor,...

Even though the GT80 is one of the fastest gaming notebooks that we have reviewed so far, it is just enough for a "good" rating after all our measurements. As well as the heavy weight (more than 4.5 kilograms; ~9.9 lb), there is the problem of the...

MSI GT80S 6QF Titan SLI Notebook Review

Fighter jet. The new top model of MSI's GT80 series is one of the most expensive and powerful high-end notebooks in the world. However, not only the performance can set new records, but the noise development as well. Read on to find out whether the SLI...

Core i7-6820HK can be overclocked to 4.1 GHz, currently most powerful gaming notebook, touchpad with numpad function, good FHD display with accurate colors, good upgradeability, customer-friendly maintenance, a lot of ports, mechanical keyboard, GPUs...

typical dual-GPU problems (driver dependency etc.), components can get pretty hot, extremely bulky and heavy chassis, power adapter could be more powerful, very high noise development, coil whining while idling, battery not directly accessible,...

5500 Euros (~$5968): What sounds like the price of a used car, is MSI's answer to the mobile gaming reference notebook. The implementation of two GTX 980 chips in an SLI configuration is not only extremely expensive, but also pretty bold.

MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI: The world's most over-the-top gaming notebook

The MSI GT80 has the honor of being the first ever notebook to have an integrated mechanical keyboard. That's all well and good, but does it perform as well as other gaming notebooks or is it just the first to have a mechanical keyboard but the last in...

Great keyboard ; Easy to upgrade ; Excellent storage system ; Good speakers ; Blu-ray writer and dual Mini-DP ports ; Killer DoubleShot Pro with Smart Teaming

Performance not quite up to par ; Average display ; Keyboard awkward to use ; Heavy and poor battery life ; Very pricey

While we admire MSI's guts to go against the flow and offer consumers something new, we feel that GT80 Titan still needs tweaking before the idea can truly flourish. As it is, it is a really niche product for a very select group of enthusiasts with fat...

MSI GT80 Titan SLI Review

Over the past few years MSI have been building a good reputation in the gaming laptop market. Their early models always delivered decent performance, although the design could be a little extreme for some tastes but recently we have seen sleek, high...

Starting with the build quality of the system it is pretty clear from the moment we unbox the GT80 Titan SLI that it is a sturdy system. Yes the majorty of the external surfaces are plastic but they are thick enough to ensure no noticable flex and...

MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI-023UK

MSI produces more gaming laptops than virtually any other company, and its latest model, the GT80 TItan, doesn't just deploy high-end hardware – it's also one of the most innovative gaming portables we've seen.

Incredible gaming speed ; Top-notch processor ; Four SSDs in RAID 0 ; Mechanical keyboard ; High-quality screen

Heavy and chunky ; Poor battery life ; Prohibitively high price
