Review Samsung NP-R780-JS03DE Notebook

Big Brother. Those who consider a 15.6 incher too small, turn to

High performance in applications; Quiet in Silent Mode; Cool surfaces; Good battery life for a 17.3 incher

Contrast poor TFT; Acute viewing angles; Yielding keys

Currently, there aren't any competitors in the less than 900 euro class with an exciting Core i5 and feasible middle class graphics combinations. If you can live with weaker graphics, the Acer Aspire 7740G (434G64Bn) might be a worthy alternative. The...

Samsung R780 review

It's been awhile – but we finally got a Samsung laptop in our hands. This time, it's a very nice-looking R780, a Core i5-based laptop with 17.3“ screen so – this thing is not small, by any means. But having in mind that we've tested quite a few laptops...

Very good job by Samsung and we hope to see more of these in the future.

Samsung R780 17-Inch Core i5 Notebook

Not everyone who has a notebook is interested in taking the computer with them on the road. Instead, they just want the flexibility of using the laptop in any room ...

Affordable price point for gaming notebook ; Eye-catching style and design ; Generally decent performance overall (at this price) ; Multi-touch trackpad gestures

Short battery life (about two hours with regular use) ; Bad placement of ” ” keys on keyboard ; Only comes with 32-bit Windows 7

The port placement generally makes sense too with a couple of USB ports and the optical drive on the right. On the left are the power, VGA, LAN, HDMI, eSATA, USB, headphone, microphone, and ExpressCard. The multi-card reader is in the front.

Samsung R780 17.3" HD+ LED (Intel Core i5-430) Notebook Review

Let us look from the profile of the machine, starting from the left to right. From the left profile we have the bulk of the connectivity present. This includes…

The Samsung R780 is something that I wouldn’t mind owning. I wouldn’t mind using it as my main system as well. It’s surprised me at how capable it really is and has allowed me to do just about everything I was used to previous. After three months of...

Samsung R780 - 17.3in Laptop

Samsung delivers another great value desktop replacement laptop and this one has a Blu-ray drive.

Great performance for the money ; Good for gaming

Poor built-in speakers ; Mediocre battery life ; Average screen quality

Samsung has once again captured a powerful mixture of performance and value in the R780. Its Blu-ray drive might be wasted on the sub-Full HD display and rotten speakers, but for general computing tasks its shines and delivers decent gaming performance...

Samsung R780 review

A budget Blu-ray laptop but it still packs a nicely powerful specification

Nice design ; Build quality ; Powerful components

Screen not 1080p ; No Express card slot ; battery life

A good laptop with some great features, but the lack of a 1080p screen will put off those looking for true Blu-ray machine

Samsung R780 notebook

This laptop is the bigger brother to the Samsung R580 that we reviewed a couple of weeks back. Its snazzy semi-transparent deep red casing caught the eye, and that's duplicated here. Samsung has also neatly mirrored the default wallpaper on the display...

Neat styling and good value

Screen resolution doesn't match Blu-ray playback, tinny sound

Looks good, works well and doesn't cost a packet - what's not to like? Well, apart from the disappointing sound and below par Blu-ray playback, not much. For the most part, though, this is a stylish machine which delivers good results.

Samsung R780 review

When we reviewed the Samsung R730 , we were impressed by its £500 price tag and stylish red lid. But we were disappointed by its lack of power and the fact that the lovely red finish didn't extend to the laptop's interior. Now that we have our hands on...

Lovely red design inside and out; decent performance; comfortable keyboard and trackpad.

Rubbish battery life.

The Samsung R780 offers good performance for the price, and both the chassis and display look great. If you can forgive its weak battery life, it'll prove an ace multimedia machine
