Sony Dash review

When we first saw the Sony Dash at CES, we thought Sony was making a play into the tablet game -- the promo video showed people using the angular device

Plays Netflix ; Multitasks ; Tons of widgets

Laggy interface ; No battery ; Confusing setup

Sony Dash Products Review - PCWorld

This e-book reader costs slightly less than an Amazon Kindle or a Sony Reader, but it's no match for them.

Sony Dash Personal Internet Viewer (HID-C10)

As a template for the alarm clock of the future, the Dash succeeds, but when it attempts to be an entertainment hub, it falls a bit short.

Sleek design with bright touch screen. Excellent alarm clock features. Mainstream apps like Facebook and Slacker Radio work well. All apps are free.

Overall product concept seems a bit flawed. Scope and abilities of apps is limited. Not very portable since it needs to be plugged in.

Sony Dash review: Sony Dash

Sony Dash

The Sony Dash delivers a personalized buffet of news, music, and video from across the Web, packed into a 7-inch touch-screen display.

For all its features, nothing about the Dash really stands out as a pillar function. The built-in speakers are wimpy. You can't run it using batteries. Touch-screen sensitivity is sluggish.

The Sony Dash is a fun device for tech enthusiasts looking to cram the Web into every corner of their homes, but it's not a fit for everyone.

Sony Dash Review

Sony's take on the Internet Appliance features a seven-inch, 800-by-480 pixel capacitive touch-screen that's much larger screen than the Chumby One, and slightly smaller than the Infocast. As with those devices, it's capable of connecting to your...

Review: Sony Dash Personal Internet Viewer

As part of a wave of devices that seek to cut the tether between Internet and PC, the Sony Dash shows some promise. As our reviewer discovers, however, the tether between device and electrical socket might be the bigger issue.

Alarm clock, news and weather station, video viewer, and Internet radio all in one; thousands of free apps available; compact

Menu controls are cumbersome; switching between functions can be a chore; no internal battery so it needs a power cord

If you've already used a Chumby device, you have a good idea what the Dash experience will be like. The Dash is actually built on the Chumby platform, so if you've created Chumby channels (collections of free apps that display in order) you can access...

Sony Dash review – A small internet enabled companion

We first got to see the Sony Dash at CES and we thought it was some kind of tablet computer made to rival to iPad. But it turns out that the device is a modified version of Chumby. But there are some bells and whistles, Sony's product comes with Bravia...

This device is made more for tech enthusiasts. It doesn't have any real utility and we will recommend it only if you deep pockets

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Do NOT buy this product as it's apparently end-of-life!

Sony does it again - rootkits, PS3 feature deletion, cutting off service without advising customers. The worst customer service in the tech sector. Avoid at all costs.

Lots of promise, intuitive to use

Another botched Sony product. Random outages for weeks, no service for several days. Sony refuses to say whether it's an outage or they've pulled the plug on the product. The Dash is useless without the central service... it becomes a brick. Not sold...
