I'm happy

I was hesitant trying Vista for the first time because I haven't heard good things. There are a few areas i'm not happy with but overall it's not too bad.

I got exactly what I was expecting. A big display, High def, a separate number keypad and hdmi out. Gets a lot of attention at airports

Battery life, need to install different software like Powerdvd if you want to play your BR's using HDMI out to a hdtv. Lots of Sony bloatware of course, Vista

Spend your cash on something else

I'm going to be getting the ASUS M70 instead (newegg item# N82E16834220412). Much better reviews on that one for just a little more cash.

Looks really nice. The screen is the biggest "buzz" on this beast. But it pretty much ends there for me and this review

I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for my wife. She's a graphics consultant and I'm an IT consultant that plays with photoshop and 3ds max

SONY HAS A HIT HERE

Larger hard drive spinning at 7200 would be nice.

Great prcessor, great video, Blu-Ray, Vista 64-bit, this system works great. Bought for my son Christmas 2008 and he is so happy. gaming has never been better, except he kills me in Madden 2008. Every inch a power house

As with most laptops, sound. However, we added some very small portable speakers and it was 100% better

Common problem

Big sorry for Sony. I spent so many hours on the phone trying to resolve "USB device not recognized" issue up to restoring laptop to the original factory state and it was no luck. I ended up with suggestion to send it for the repair. I went to the sony...

As expected of Sony

Good luck finding a bag to fit this thing.

High quality craftsmanship, what one would expect in a good Japanese product. Made of a very sturdy plastic. Basically what I expected performance-wise. Very nice display for a laptop. Stays cooler than I expected

Viewing angles on the display could be better, I think that it is a TN panel but as far as I know one would be hard pressed to find a laptop that had any other type of panel. The power LED is annoyingly bright

Yes! It is expandable, but...

After doing some thorough research I found the answer to my questions: Yes, you can install a second HD. BUT... for this particular model you have to buy the following parts: PART# 1-730-230-11 (M780 SATA HDD2 FPC) This is the connector cable which...

Same as on my past two reviews ; The text below is an addendum to the notes on "Other thoughts ; If you bought this computer (as I did) for $1,399, investing an additional $750 will add a secondary 250GB 7200RPM drive and 8GB of RAM. Quite an...

None really. The more I use this baby, the more I like it ; I still haven't found the perfect backpack for it, though, but that's the fault of the people who make the backpacks. Come on guys!!! Catch up

Be aware of possible expandability limitations

This is the second review I've written about now that I've worked with (and on) this laptop for about a month. One of the key selling points for me was its expandability. Originally, the specs claimed the RAM could be expanded to 8GB. Now Newegg has...

4GB memory stock ; 512MB nVidia video RAM ; 7200RPM drive ; beautiful 18.4" screen ; Blue-ray drive ; very light (considering its massive size) ; sleek looks

RAM may not be expanded beyond the stock 4GB ; second hard drive may not be installable at all

Great all around laptop!

This is a great machine for the price whether you are a gamer, designer or just novice user. As a side note, finding a laptop bag to fit this bad boy is a little hard.

Elegant looking, big, nice screen with little or no glare, no backlighting issues, lightweight for size (can be transported easily enough without strain), sound quality nice, love the full keyboard, plays Blue Ray great. Handles games with no problems...

This is my second Sony and as with the first, making recovering disks is a pain. USB's quit working when doing updates. Solution: remove battery and let total power drain. Still having some issues with Bluetooth and Fingerprint reader. Lots of...
