Review Sony Vaio VPC-S13X9E Subnotebook

Mobile Office. Handy, mobile and good performance. Sony's 13.3 in

Cool and quiet; Good application performance; Light and stable; Good battery life; Keyboard with good feedback; FireWire & ExpressCard; Docking Port; 3G module installed

TFT not AR coated; Brightness is throttled in battery mode; Narrow viewing angles; Low contrast; Battery need a long time to recharge

Why does Sony use a glare type screen in this kind of mobile subnotebook? It can't even be due to the colors because they are extremely bad (contrast & color spectrum).

Looks good back lit keyboard is amazing typing is easy easy to carry

The hinge at which the monitor meets the body is weak and the location of the power button and power input are structurally weak if accidentally put down hard. built in speakers of poor quality

A fantastic little piece of kit! As I work out and about I need something that is compact, light weight, can give a good all round performance, and still pack a punch when required. The VAIO S Series certainly does that. I customised the hardware...

Wish I'd taken the option for the larger battery. The standard battery only gives me 1.5 - 2hrs of media intensive use.

See Bad Points

Windows 7 crashed probably due to a bad driver and it was impossible to recover using F10. The recovery media had not been mounted correctly which has forced me to buy Windows 7 and Office 2010 disks. I am away from UK and not able to access support...
