Hinge Broken

 

My VAIO Z series is now 3 years old and the Right Hand Side hinge is starting to give way. Sony repairers in Sydney want $800.00 to repair it? ...Apparently, it is not possible to change the hinge, but the whole Screen / Chassis assembly has to be...

Apart from the hinge problem, the laptop has worked well.
