Toshiba Portege Z835 review

Toshiba should know a thing or two about skinny, featherweight laptops. Back in 2007, the company unveiled the Portege R500, a 2.4-pound laptop

Aggressively priced ; Long battery life ; Lightweight, even for an Ultrabook ; Wide selection of ports, backlit keyboard

Performance trails other Ultrabooks ; Poor viewing angles ; Dated design, minor build quality issues

Lightest. Least expensive. Best selection of ports. There are tons of reasons to love this aggressively priced Ultrabook, though its dated design and so-so performance will turn off some shoppers.

Toshiba Portege Z830-S8302

The Toshiba Portege Z830-S8302 is a slim, speedy ultrabook that may be a little too light and too pricey for mass appeal.

Svelte magnesium alloy design. Backlit keyboard. Lighter chassis, complete with more I/O ports than any other ultrabook. SD card slot. WiDi 2.0 video streaming.

Expensive. Wobbly screen. Finicky keyboard. Non-removable battery.

Practical Test: Toshiba Portégé Z830-10N (Core i3) Notebook

A week at the CES. After publishing the comprehensive review of the German Core i5 version in December, we can now test the smaller Core i3 version thanks to Intel. In addition to numerous benchmarks, the inexpensive ultrabook also had to show how it...

Small dimensions and weight, Matt screen, High-grade WLAN, The system performance doesn't give reason for complaint in routine use despite "weak" components

Annoying fan noise, Wobbly and easy to warp display, Short key drop, A stable display - we have an awkward feeling every time we open the lid

Toshiba Portege Z830 Review Review

Yet another ultrabook arrived on the scene, and comes with excellent performance, and all things considered, is at par with the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s. The only thing letting it down is the price, and the HP Folio 13 takes the advantage of that, in terms...

Good performance, Extremely slim form factor, Bright display, Non-reflective screen increases usage comfort

Expensive, Build quality & feel doesnt justify price tag

Toshiba Portege Z830

Very light and thin, lots of ports

Display flex, shallow keyboard

The Toshiba Portege Z830 is the best equipped and lightest Ultrabook currently on the market. It has more ports and you won't feel like you've given up expandability for extreme portability. It's insanely light at 2.48 lbs. and very thin. In short,...

Toshiba Portégé Z830 Ultrabook Review

Ultrabook perfection. Almost.

Very slim and light, Unibody design, Remains cool, Sturdy chassis, Good battery life

Slightly expensive, Fan makes noise when rear vent covered

Starting up the Z830 I noticed two things: how incredibly fast it is, and how much bloatware Toshiba has added on it. Windows 7 (Home Premium) actually boots up in 11 seconds flat thanks to the internal 128GB SSD. Obviously the Intel Core i5-2467M...

Toshiba Portege Z830/Z835 review: nice overall package, a few flaws nevertheless!

The Toshiba Z830 is the lightest and thinnest ultrabook in its class right now and manages to offer a good mix of features and performances. If it weren't for the overall fragile feel and the loud cooling system, I'd say it's a top pick, especially...

thin and very light, magnesium used for the whole body, decent performances, matte screen, backlit keyboard, good trackpad, lots of ports, excellent battery life, good price tag

mushy keyboard with poor feedback, annoying fan, not the best display, feels fragile, rather slow SSD

With a fairly affordable price tag and a bunch of solid features, the Toshiba Z835 is one of the best ultrabooks available in stores these days.
