NIKKOR 18–200mm f/3.5–5.6G ED VR II

Nikon's new AF-S DX NIKKOR 18–200mm f/3.5–5.6G ED VR II lens (27–300mm 35mm equivalent) is an updated version of their popular 18–200mm lens that covers a significant 11.1x focal-length range and probably most of a photographer's shooting needs.

Compact; wide coverage; effective Vibration Reduction

Lens creep; distortion

I used the lens with a Nikon D300s and D3000 and found it great for traveling light. It's capable of producing high-quality pictures; however, it does have some distortion issues.—Steve Baczewski

My 90% lens

I run this on a D90 and it's replaced 3 other lens. The only other lens I carry around is a prime 35mm. Auto focus is very fast, VRII is nice and honestly you get an awful lot of glass for the money. Do get a lens filter.

Very versatile lens. Very sharp at most zoom levels. Light weight and good bang for the buck

a little soft around the edges when you are all the way out to 200. The computer contacts take some time to seat, so you occasionally get the flashing F error when you are first breaking it in

Excellent lens

This is my favorite lens, I am considering buying the Nikon 24-120mm because of the nano crystal. I use this lens for almost everything. I took it with me to Costa Rica, I got some amazing images.

Quality of photos taken with this lens are excellent. Also has powerful Zoom. This is an all purpose single lens that reduces the hassle of changing lenses according to the situation.

If you want one lens for 90% of your shots, this is it. Sharp, solidly made, an excellent range without being too extreme & Nikon's fantastic VR. Well worth the money.
