Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD

The Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD is a sharp, stabilized standard-angle lens, but color fringing can be an issue at wide apertures.

Very sharp. Minimal distortion. Wide maximum aperture. Optically stabilized. Good close focus capability. Weather-sealed design. Available for Canon, Nikon, and Sony SLRs.

Shows color fringing. Edge performance isn't as strong as center. Heavy for its size.

Conclusions There are definite advantages to having image stabilization in a prime lens, especially for handheld video recording. Hopefully the Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD starts a trend of including that feature in standard-angle lenses, as it's...

Very good sharpness, especially in the centre ; Good build quality ; Effective Vibration Compensation system ; Moisture resistant construction ; Low distortion ; Close focusing for a standard, non-macro lens

May be priced a little high at launch

Tamron has created an excellent lens which is certainly more than capable of delivering excellent results in a wide range of conditions. It sports premium features such as weather sealing, exotic optical coatings and Vibration Compensation in a...

Consumer review (lenstip.com)

Tamron SP 45 mm f/1.8 Di VC USD

Wide range of usages, given its pictorial and optical qualities, weather sealing, close focus, and stabilization. Very convenient FL, by the way. At ease with portraits, social events (despite bulk and slow AF, but MF is good enough), architecture.

Image quality is very appealing. I'd say "delicate rendering", as contrast may be milder than with, say, recent Zeiss lenses.Users should not get blinded by absolute resolution figures (yes, Otus is better, so what). Perfect match for low noise cameras...
