SlingCatcher

Sling Media's been busy refining its first great idea, the Slingbox, since its launch back in 2005. Now, after nearly two years of delays since its initial announcement at CES 2007, the company's second big idea, the SlingCatcher ($299.99 list), is...

Lets you watch a Slingbox video on any TV without the use of a PC. Streams any portion of your PC's screen, including Internet video, to your living room TV. Easy setup

No HD video streaming. Can't stream video files directly from a PC. Choppy streaming performance in SlingProjector. Remote has limited capabilities. No Mac or 64-bit Windows support. Expensive. No Wi-Fi

The much-hyped, long-delayed SlingCatcher isn't the killer Internet TV device the company originally promised. Instead, it's an interesting but expensive alternative to existing, niche-market media extenders, and one that really benefits only current...

Does what it says on the tin with a few additonal extras I wasn't aware of. Allows you to send content from a laptop to the slingcatcher not just video but audio as well using the Sling Projector software (which I believe is free.

I am using this with a TV bed, and as such the receiver unit sits in the slot under the bed. This makes changing channels etc difficult. I wish the remote control wasn't Bluetooth instead of IR. Still working out how to make it connect to my NAS, but...

Slingcatcher

The idea was good, thats why I bought one, perhaps the one I purchased was "Duff", or maybe my "3 Toshiba p20 laptops" weren't good enough, who knows?. It looks good sitting there in the cardboard box, would jump at the chance of getting my money back.

Not "HD" which I knew before I purchased, very little instructions in setup manual, unreliable, too fiddley, poor quality video streaming, very dissapointed. Maybe someone younger would have opperated it more successfully, who knows?.

Excellent for anyone away from home in a country with poor TV ... (Canada & USA for example!!!)

Only as good as the slowest internet connection between your home and where you are.
