A Review of the Asus PB279Q Professional 27” 4K UHD monitor

The prices of 4K monitors are dropping while their overall quality keeps increasing. New specs are slowly being added and existing specs are being enhanced all the time as these new types of monitors become hotter seller.

Superb color range ; Excellent brightness ; 10-bit color ; 4 HDMI ports ; Great design ; Range of display enhancing software features

No USB ports ; No HDMI 2.0 ; Weak speakers ; Not a truly professional monitor

Our final word on the Asus PB279Q is that for its price, it’s priced to absolutely sell. This is a superb IPS monitor with excellent display specs and great connectivity options. Useful for gamers, casual users or professionals of most types.

ASUS PB279Q

Is this 4K at its best?

100% sRGB support ; Exceptional 4K performance

Disappointing white levels

An exceptional 4K monitor that's ideal for design professionals and well-heeled gamers alike. Everything about this monitor just oozes quality and performance and we are yet to test a 4K monitor that's this good. The monitor is a bit shy on features...

Asus PB279Q

4K resolution and good specifications Sturdy stand with full range of motion Versatile inputs

Weak video performance Expensive

Using a 4K computer monitor is a revelation. The sheer luxury of space will make you reconsider how you do everything you've become used to doing (and how long it takes you), especially if you've become used to poky laptop screens. A few teething...

AMAZING!

Stop waiting to get a 4k monitor, buy this one and enjoy!

Great looking monitor. I have had quite a few monitors over the years however none have had the quality, look design and feel that this one does. Solid quality. Amazing picture. I would go into extreme detail however all that is needed to know is; GO...

Pretty good deal

- No USB ports on the monitor. I personally don't care. - Reviewers have pointed out that this monitor has issues with 10 bit color. ASUS' product website still reports 10-bit color (though it doesn't say "true 10 bit") so maybe there was just a bad...

- Excellent color/image quality - Good build quality - Built like a tank - Very thin bezel, you could totally tile these

- only one 4K@60hz capable input over DP 1.2, HDMI 1.4 doesn't have what it takes. Why bother including inputs at all if they can't drive the monitor? This isn't a TV, 60hz or bust. - No DP chaining capability. Also a real shame.

Nice monitor, but NOT 10-bit.

Bought this for a workstation because it advertised "true 10-bit color." After HOURS of setup and back-and-forth with Nvidia and ASUS, it came to light that this monitor was incorrectly labeled. Thanks to both companies for their patience and customer...

Good contrast, good response time, good color.

NOT a true 10-bit monitor. This is an 8-bit+FRC (temporal dithering) setup.

Be sure you get the right cable(s)

If you want full 4k @ 60 Hz (why else would you get this display?), be sure you get the right cable for the signal. If you have a desktop with a full-size DisplayPort 1.2 port, you should be fine. Otherwise, the included HDMI cable will only handle...

Bright, beautiful display

A little bit of difficulty finding the right cable.

Fantastic

Pay attention to the reviews, you can see the negatives are almost always either based on misunderstandings or overreactions to a single bad display (e.g. one had bad pixels, so apparently they all do)

Fantastic display, it's the first time I can transfer from my high DPI laptop to an external display and not constantly wish I was back on my laptop.

You have to manually toggle the DP support.

4k IPS Part 2

most TN panels are can only display about 16 millions colors making them 6 or 8 bit, but IPS panels which are used on numerous T.V's can display brighter more brilliant and more precise color because they are almost always 10 bit and on some very high...

this panel does have true 10bit support via sRGB with dithering, they do require that you have a graphics card and software that supports it but most modern computers now can do it without a problem ; 10 X 1024 this is how you get 1.06 billion colors...
