Kensington SlimBlade Pro Review

Compact ambidextrous design ; Wired and wireless support ; Twist-to-scroll ; Dual optical sensors ; Great battery life

Large click panels can be tough to press ; Low-profile base offers little thumb or wrist support

The updated wireless version of Kensington's SlimBlade trackball still looks great and takes little desk space, but it's no more comfortable to use than the original.

Disappointing - Not as Advertised

I'm sure the device will perform reasonably well, but I am disappointed that it has advertised features I won't be able to use. It would have been nice if they at least offered an older version of the software that still had those features enabled.

Kensington reputation

Very disappointing. If you are buying the SlimBlade because it has software to support the "media mode" and "document viewing mode", you'll be sorely disappointed. Just got off the line with Technical Support. It was only after 10 minutes on the phone...

Hard to quantify

It's difficult to rate mice because the 'feel' is so subjective. There are graphic designers who well not part with 15+ yo $12 analog mouse with the little rubber ball underneath because they like the way that particular device responses. I loved the...

Attractive, and well made (braided usb cable) counterpart of the K64325.

- Track ball too small - no scroll ring - awkward buttons.

Different from the Expert but still good

It works out of the box in Ubuntu Linux.

Seems to be an improved version of the Expert mouse. There is a hole in the bottom of the ball-cradle that allows dust and other unmentionables from blocking the laser. The buttons are stiff (slightly too stiff right now but I expect that to change)...

the shape of the mouse is a little odd, I use my Expert mouse with my hand resting along the right edge of the mouse. I left-click with the top right button and right-click with the bottom right button. This orientation is slightly awkward for me as...

Saves Hand

I switched to large trackball that Kensington started making back in the late '80's. No more cramping of my hand or forearm muscles. Minimal chance of carpel tunnel problems with the cushions provided by Kensington

Smooth action, comfortable for large hand, does not break easily

connector wire can kink

annoying rattle

Cool looking.

Takes a while to get used to Y & once you get the hang of it, the single & double click buttons have a loud & annoying rattling sound that will drive you crazy.

Great Trackball

I've been holding off on this trackball for a long time, due to the mixed reviews and expensive price. Recently I decided to pull the trigger and am glad I did. The trackball is a pleasure to use and I have found it to be very accurate with a little...

Comfortable, Large Ball, Accurate

Trackballs may not be for everyone, Scrolling with this trackball may not be for everyone, expensive

Kensington SlimBlade

Kensington increased the size of the jeweled bearings that the ball rides on. This was a nagging problem with this model and the Slimblade trackball both of which I own. Kensington replaced the Slimblade some years ago with no questions asked as these...

Easy to use and setup. USB 2.0 for great performance.

Click switches seem to wear prematurely. I think this is a common problem with all devices using these types of micro-switches.

Really nice trackball

I spend many hours a week as a developer and wouldn't dream of returning to a mouse. If you have an Expert this is a worthy replacement.

Very nice replacement for the Kensington Expert. Smooth operation, refined design and low profile. This is a classy looking trackball. Nibs that the ball glides on are well designed and do not appear to trap as much dirt as the Expert. Quiet (er)...

While this is a really nice trackball I'm going to ding it a star for price in combination with the following two issues - the cord is about 1ft shorter than it should be and the button clicks could be slightly quieter. Perhaps in a couple of years...
