Mediocre audio quality while recording video, even at highest settings; no specs for exact video format requirements in manual; doesn't record copy-protected video; doesn't play DRM-protected WMA or WMV files; doesn't play QuickTime files; no remote...

The Apex offers a modest value on a personal media player/recorder, but expect to spend a lot of time and energy converting your video collection.

This is an amazing price for such a high capacity hard drive player that also plays video! For example a 1GB recertifyed iPod nano costs a little more then this product. I get comments constantly on the screen size and the video quality. The menues are...

works for me

 

should keep encoding less than 720x480 and 900 or less bit rate. out of 10 videos already encoded played 8 fine. the other two said unsupported. cant go wrong for the price.

plays xvid even though it does not state it

will not play over 720x480 or high bit rate. the reason for 4 out of 5 is high bit rate problem and has a screen door effect on lcd and no mpeg2

No Good

 

None

I got this for viewing movies. It requires compression to MP4 with MP3 or DIVX with MP3. I tried the latest Nero 7, Roxio 8 and DVDFab 3.1.4 and none would recode to the requirements this needed to play a non-encrypted DVD set of files. Total waste for me
