I have about 30 Brother printers and we decided to look at our next default printer as Brother discontinued the model we use. One of the IT guys did a cost analysis of the Oki B431 and all looked well. The problem, he didn't factor in bad reliability...

Works well but supplies are expensive
I searched for hours to find a way to reset the drum counter on the B431 but it still remains a secret. Other Okidata printers have been solved but not the B431. All printer manufacturers are trying to lock the customer into buying their overpriced...
Prints fast and pages are crisp and neat
Toner is very expensive and so are drums. It will tell you to replace the drum before it is worn out (still printing perfectly) and will not print any more until you do so.

I work in finance, and my job requires printing fairly long text-based documents such as annual reports, quarterly reports, etc. Therefore I had a very specific need - a workhorse printer that can churn out double-sided pages of (mostly) text. I wasn't...
I hear the toner cartridge refills are expensive, but that's probably true for most printers

Great Printer
Great printer, one of the best I have ever owned. I replaced two Brother HL-5240 printers with this one. The Brothers were very nice printers, but this Oki is nicer made. I plan to buy one more as a back up in the next few weeks
It was a bit stinky when it printed the first hundred pages. It give you a blast of a chemical smell as the paper feeds out. I asked the Oki tech about this while calling in to figure out how the front paper feed works. They said it has a very hot...
