The BenQ HT2050 projects one of the best dark-room images for the money we've tested, making it worth the money for video-quality buffs.
The BenQ HT2050 has excellent overall image quality with superb black levels and contrast for the money. A shorter-throw lens helps it project a larger image in smaller spaces. It's relatively affordable for this level of quality.
Competing projectors can get brighter and offer more-accurate color out of the box.
If you have a bit extra in your projector budget and can appreciate its excellent image, the BenQ HT2050 is the best choice at this price level.

The BenQ HT2050 home-entertainment projector delivers high quality for both 2D and 3D video, a short lag time for gamers, and—except for black-and-white videos—shows very few rainbow artifacts.

Excellent image quality and a whisper quiet fan, a fantastic home theater option
Great image quality, vibrant colors, full HD

For those looking to spend less than $1000 for a home theater rig, the HT2050 is the clear choice. It offers the best image quality you will find in this price range. Well lit rooms do dull the colors a bit. If you don't mind this the HT2050 is a good...

After spending 110 hours testing, the BenQ HT2050 is the best $1,000 projector, with accurate color and light output matching more expensive models.
Like its predecessor, the HT2050 is one of the few projectors in its price range that has accurate colors. It also has a bright, punchy image with low noise and low input lag. Unless you’re one of the small minority of people who notice and can’t stand...

I can only say that I am perplexed as to why the unit will not operate. I worked with it for many hours, trying to examine every possibility. This thing simply must be a defective unit. And, the no refund policy makes me wonder if overheating is a...
NONE
o Unit initially would not remain on for more than 5 minutes, overheating triggers a shutdown. o After allowing it to cool down, repeated attempts were not successful, to the point that shutdown now happens within a minute or two of startup. o There...

Looks great on 135" screen. Keystone correction gives minimal distortion. Fan is pretty quiet. Rainbow effects are minimal. It works great for gaming with no noticeable input lag.
Pain in the urethra to set up, but that is to be expected with wall-mounted projectors
