HTR reviewer Adrienne Maxwell puts the JVC DLA-X3 3D projector through a series of tests to see what it is capable. While the projector has very pleasant highs, it did have a few moments where it stumbles....
Light output could be a concern if you have a relatively large screen. While the DLA-X3's brightness was sufficient for my screen size and type, this projector isn't as bright as some of its competitors. Those of you who have screen sizes over 90...
The JVC DLA-X3 is first and foremost an outstanding 2D projector - with good 3D performance thrown in, to boot. It's ideally suited for someone who has a modest-sized screen and plans to watch a majority of content in a light-controlled...

3D performance that really delivers on a variety of screen materials, Top of the line 2D performance at a mid level price, Phenomenal color rendering, Truly deep blacks, Subtle shadow detail, Natural, lifelike skin tones, User friendly menu system,...
Emitter and 3D glasses are not included with the projector and are sold as optional add-ons, JVC 3D glasses are not cheap, Noisy-ish shutter door during power on and power down, No 15pin D-Sub input. Only a problem if your PC doesn’t support HDMI or DVI.
Verdict: DEFINITE BUY!!! JVCs D-ILA DLA-X3 is another home run from an industry leader in projection technology. The DLA-X3 has a stellar picture, with rich detailed color, combined with phenomenal black levels. While the 3D image is not as bright as...

JVC steps up to bat with another excellent front projector offering, and manages an in-the-park home run.
But it all comes back to the black levels and contrast ratio: these are so good even the slightly inaccurate color becomes irrelevant. It's simply an awesome image.

It's no secret that we've become huge fans of JVC's string of D-ILA projectors. Ever since the DLA-HD1 hit the market years ago, JVC has been a big player on the projector scene, with industry-leading native contrast and exceptional HD picture quality.

Is JVC's new D-ILA projector another winner, or do its new 3D talents throw a spanner in the works?
The UK’s first 3D projector has both impressed and disappointed. Hugely impressive is just how much more you get the point of 3D when it's writ as large as 80in or more in your living or home cinema room. JVC has done a terrific job, too, of revamping...

With 2D, this is a great projector – in 3D, the JVC isn't the best, but it's still pretty excellent
Easy to set up ; superb picture ; natural and colourful images ; great insight
3D requires external transmitter ; it’s a big ol’ box
It doesn’t deliver the best 3D images ever, but with everything else it’s pretty terrific

JVC's affordable 3D lightbox ushers in a new era for D-ILA home projectors
Gorgeous 2D performance ; Excellent fine detail ; Versatile picture controls ; Low operational noise ; Good motion resolution
No THX preset ; Crosstalk
JVC has built a towering fan base around its D-ILA projectors. They've earned a reputation for industry-leading black levels and image clarity, yet crucially are not the most expensive in the market.
