Panasonic's debut 3D projector might be late to the party, but it certainly knows how to make an entrance
Stunning 2D and good 3D pictures ; Good price considering what it does ; Extremely flexible with its setup
Complicated to calibrate ; Horrible image shift mechanism ; Traces of 3D crosstalk
In the end, living with Panasonic’s debut 3D projector has been a great if slightly unexpected experience. For while by any comparative measure the AT5000 is a great projector with both 2D and 3D, its 2D pictures have proved so delicious in terms of...

We visit Panasonic in Hollywood to look at their new projector before it goes on sale in September.
It’s been nearly 18 months since the AE4000 came out, so it’s good to see that the AT5000’s specs offer some major improvements beyond the ‘mere’ addition of 3D. Particularly eye-catching is the doubling of the claimed contrast ratio to 300,000:1,...

Best projector £2500+, Awards 2011. Class-leading 3D performance – this projector is a masterpiece
Class-leading 3D performance, comfortable to watch ; colourful, detailed 2D images ; easy to set-up, thorough specification
Nothing of note
Best projector £2500+, Awards 2011. Believe the hype on this one: the Panasonic 3D projector was worth the wait

Good 3D pictures; quiet running; loads of set-up features
Some crosstalk; fiddly optical image shift system; big drop off in brightness moving to 3D
Whatever ‘philosophical’ debates the AT5000 might unwittingly raise about the attractiveness of 3D viewing versus the attractiveness of high-quality 2D viewing, though, it’s a simple reality of home cinema life that even the most die-hard of 3D fans...

From the moment I first saw Panasonic's new PT-AT5000 3D projector running alongside its AE4000 predecessor at a swanky launch event in Los Angeles, I knew it was going to be something special. Though not necessarily because of its headlining 3D talents.
Good 3D pictures; quiet running; loads of set-up features
Some crosstalk; fiddly optical image shift system; big drop off in brightness moving to 3D

Review Panasonic has notched up some memorable firsts when it comes to home cinema projection. Not only was it the first brand to introduce a native 16:9 widescreen model, it led the way with Full HD too.
The PT-AT5000E is an astoundingly accomplished LCD projector. The cosmetic design may be thumpingly dull but its performance sparkles with Hollywood glitz. Heck, it even makes 3D look good. If you’re serious about home theatre, this is a highly...
