The 1080p Bravia VPL-HW15 is an excellent -- and relatively affordable -- exponent of Sony's SXRD projection technology. It's an attractive machine, it offers a good range of connections and its picture quality is frequently stellar. It's the best...
Superbly sharp pictures; motion is handled very well; attractive design; good range of connections and features; runs quietly.
Dynamic iris can be overly aggressive; some settings can cause video noise; colours could be richer.
With its fast response time and ability to deliver exceptionally fine detail, Sony's latest SXRD projector, the Bravia VPL-HW15, provides a truly spectacular way to watch the World Cup -- or anything else for that matter

The Sony Bravia SXRD 1080p Home Theater Projector is a terrific projector with just a few faults (steep price, bulk and brightness), but the warranty is great and Sony is known to be a respected brand.
Fantastic picture quality and contrast ratio, excellent support service.
Very expensive; image isn’t as bright as some other high-end models, very large and heavy.
If you want one of the best units on our list, and are not afraid to shell out the cash, this is the unit for you.

Sony's new BRAVIA VPL-HW15 is a reworking of last year's VPL-HW10. At a modest m in danger of giving away the store up front. Read more to get the details.,000 (modest as projectors go, that is), the VPL-HW15 offers a useful lineup of features and a...

Sony's new BRAVIA VPL-HW15 is a reworking of last year's VPL-HW10. At a modest $3,000 (modest as projectors go, that is), the VPL-HW15 offers a useful lineup of features and a picture that I didn't expect at this price. With exceptional color, barely...
Sony has been refining the auto irises in its projectors for many years now-longer than anyone, to my knowledge. I never saw it operating (pumping) on program material, heard any sign of it operating, or noticed anything unnatural in its performance.

Sony Bravia VPL-HW15 reviewed by ConsumerSearch, which notes pros and cons, along with reviews and ratings for the Sony Bravia VPL-HW15 and comparisons to other Projectors
Great color; Strong blacks and shadow detail.; Good value for a LCoS projector; Easy installation
Still relatively expensive; Some projectors are sharper, brighter

The VPL-HW15 replaces the HW10, and in doing so, offers up an improved, but every similar projector, for less money. We'll call that evolutionary, rather than revolutionary. While the MAP pricing on the older Sony was $3499, the VPL-HW15 comes in $500...
Very good "Out of the Box" picture quality ; Extremely good color accuracy post calibration in "best" mode ; Very good black level performance for the price, one of the best mid-priced projectors in this regard, but not the best ; Overall, an...
One of the least bright projectors in "brightest mode" limiting it for those who want to watch content like sports with more than the minimum ambient light present ; While it's sharpness is average, it could be sharper (especially for digital content...
The only real question is - what does the new competition look like. Unlike past years, when the Sony review units were very late getting out there, and Sony projectors were typically about the last new ones reviewed, this time Sony got their act...

Sony's new SXRD projector is the least expensive 1080p LCOS projector ever released.
Sony's new HW15 is their lowest-priced 1080p projector yet released. Despite the price, Sony has made few compromises regarding image quality and feature set. The HW15 improves upon the HW10 in several ways. It brings the best features of LCOS, like a...

Sony has unveiled a superb cinematic mid-range SXRD projector
Excellent contrast and black levels ; Almost inaudible fan ; Slick styling
Limited lens shift range ; Not the brightest image ; Expensive technology
An excellent all-rounder and a highly persuasive alternative to the DLP or LCD options available on the market
