Yamaha RX-A850 7.2 AV Receiver Review

 

Yamaha's new RX-A850 mid-range AV receiver has a lot going for it but the absence of DTS:X could put it at a disadvantage to some of the competition.

Great sound with movies & music ; Dolby Atmos decoding ; HDMI 2.0/HDCP2.2 support ; Impressive set of features ; MusicCast included ; Excellent build quality ; Attractive design

No decoding for DTS:X ; Limited to 7 channels ; Menus & setup confusing ; No backlight on remote

The Yamaha RX-A850 is certainly a well made and feature-packed receiver that delivers a great performance with both movies and music. The design is attractive, the build quality is excellent and the ART wedge makes for a stable and isolated chassis....
