Setup was hassle free. I plugged in the microphone and ran the Audyssey MultEQ auto-setup routine. It went without a hitch, accurately identifying my speaker setup with main five speakers augmented by two smaller height speakers. I took three listening...

Onkyo TX-NR807 review

The TX-NR807 is a feature-packed AVR sure to find a devoted following

Full-on gung-ho sound with massive bass ; DSX/DPLIIz ; SD upscaling

The bass is a little too massive ; Slightly flimsy build ; No USB

One of the best receivers for the money, the TX-NR807 makes amplifiers costing a lot more wince with the sheer power on offer here

Onkyo TX-NR807 review

The Onkyo TX-NR807 is a good amp, that with greater subtlety could be a great amp

Stamps immense weight and authority on movie soundtracks ; very good steering of surround effects

Can be unruly and uncompromising ; lacks the subtlety and low-level dynamics of class-leaders

A powerful amp that takes no prisoners in the sound department. A good amp, that with greater subtlety could be a great amp

Onkyo TX-NR807 AV receiver

New HD audio formats on a budget

Great sound, DSX and DPLIIz height and width surround channels, 1080p video upscaling

Bass can be a bit full-on, no front-mounted HDMI, no USB input

The remote control is a good one - intuitively laid out and labelled, and easy to find your way around. The top section of buttons lights up in the dark too, which is nice, though we're not quite sure why this couldn't be extended to the number buttons

The little engine that could

It may be a moot point by now for this model however, I have enjoyed my Onkyo 807 for around 5 yrs now! After 3 yrs, the HDMI board went south. Onkyo gave me an out of warranty fix, I was out of pocket only the cost of shipping one way. It's been a...

Pre-outs, Rated at 135w per 2ch, Audyssey, multiple listening modes, Ethernet port, plenty of analogue and HDMI connectivity, 7.2 availability, even more features

unhappy

Calling them is a 45 minute wait over the phone and apparently they do not know that much. It cost me $60 to ship it half way across America and at least this second time they are flipping the bill. I asked for a replacement and they told me only after...

Great picture and great sound when it is working

Lasted one year before problems showed up. I sent it back for warranty and 3 months later it reverted back to no sound again. I am shipping it back for the second time. This thing has caused me 6 months of pain and it is still ongoing

Review update

I love this system. It's my first home theater project and a follow up review after owning it for just over 6 months now. LG390 bluray is the source and LG50PS30 is the final. I have everything connected with HDMI. With 2 subs and 7 speakers hooked up,...

Very powerful unit, multiple listening modes, firmware upgradable via Internet, easy to use, feature rich, lots of adjustability, detailed owners manual, plenty of connectivity options

At this price range, no need to cry over spilled milk, you're getting more than you bargained for

Solid Buy

I have this receiver in a theater room setup that is very dark during use. I have to turn a light on or try to read the darn remote by projector glow since the buttons have no backlight. The source buttons have backlight once you press them to confirm...

The Audyssey setup was very straight forward and made things so much easier. The onscreen setup was something new for me, but now I could never go back to my old Sony STR-V333ES. It really doesn't get that hot at all. Does a great decoding job of...

I give it four stars only because I also felt a little cheated by Onkyo not including an HD radio tuner and I really should have got an iPod dock. Lastly, the remote needs backlit buttons and is personally now my biggest annoyance. There's nothing that...
