Good When it works

 

They say 7.1, but its really 5.1+2.0 that allows you to run all 8 at the same time, but that puts less power to the 2 surround and 2 rear (or 2 height) speakers.

Nice features, has a handful of HDMI inputs and 2 optical inputs. DDPL, DDPL2 and DTS ready. "advanced surround" simulates surround from a stereo input, better than just splitting the channels.

First one never actually worked properly. Warranty work was completed by a local shop and then it worked great for a few years. Now though (5 years later, 6 moves) I can tell it is starting to go. Sometimes I'll get a max-volume white noise snarl that...

found a fatal flaw

 

I realize that this product is discontinued now but hopefully people considering purchase of a Pioneer receiver will read this and immediately try switching between HD and SD on their cable box so they can return their new receivers if the issue...

Nothing but trouble

 

I had to call Pioneer tech support 2 times to get what should be a simple set-up problem solved. After some walk-throughs in the many menus and settings, both times the techie said my receiver needed to be taken in for service so I did. On both...

Good specs for the price. Used it to update from an older Pioneer receiver that worked well to this one for HDMI capability.

please keep your original package as long as you can. If you miss any part for the RMA. Don't waste your money to send it back to Newegg. Just contact manufactory directly. Newegg can not do anything if you miss an item, even you are willing to pay...

it is good when it works.

it stopped working after 4 days. The power was completely off.

Onkyo had been my favorite until the HDMI board fried. Come to think of it, with the comparable cost in mind, I prefer Onkyo over other brands.

it produces good sound quality when you have the supported media via HDMI

Optical ports are only for music and SAT-TV. I have a Western Digital media play that does not passthru true audio via HDMI. It's useless to me

Worked for a Bit...

 

Worked Extremely well while it did work.

Stopped working in about 2 weeks. No idle light; wont turn on at all. No sign of life when plugged in anymore.

Very pleased so far

 

Glad I have this receiver and can highly recommend it for the money. Get a set of great speakers from NewEgg (Energy 5.1 if you can get them) and rock the house!

Great upscaling - nice picture Excellent sound Great buy for the money

HDMI through is a little unusual to set up (I've seen reports that people can't get it to work, but I'm not going to mess with it) MCACC is archaic-looking Not the easiest receiver to set up out of the box, but it works well when you do get it set up

Great price, looks great. Sounds even better. Upgraded from my sont str de895 Plenty of inputs. A lot of options. Easy set up.

A few too many options for me to mess with. Set up the auto sound calibrate, sounds great, working great!
