Yamaha RX-V867 Receiver Preview

The new Yamaha RX-V867 receiver has not only 3D capability built in and Audio Return Channel but also networking features, multiple HDMI inputs/dual outputs, and analogue and HDMI upscaling to 1080p.

With the exception of one missing feature, the new Yamaha RX-V867 is quite an interesting product. For under $900, you get full analogue and HDMI upconversion to 1080p, HDMI 1.4a with 3D, Audio Return Channel, and input switching while in Standby...

Fantastic receiver!

If you can't get your movies and music to sound great with this receiver it is YOUR FAULT. All of the technology, features, and hardware are here for you.

Even though it only has HDMI ports, it DOES support HDCP over DVI. My older HDTV only has a DVI port and my sources require HDCP-compliant devices. This receiver strips the audio and passes HDCP-protected content through an HDMI-to-DVI cable. This is...

The only con that I can think of relates to the volume control; it comes in discrete units of 0.5dB. There's nothing actually wrong with it (you can always find the "right" volume), but it means that at some point in the audio path your signal is being...

Simply Amazing

sucks for you because the egg discontinued this model Hopefully yamaha will keep releasing firmware upgrades for this little guy

5 HDMI inputs ; Local Network Streaming/Internet Streaming ; Price (I stole it from the egg for $ 4 o o dollars including free shipping) ; 2 zones function separate of each other i.e. you can have zone one playing movies and zone 2 streaming music from...

I wish it could streams my avi files from my NAS ; I would have gladly paid double the price for this receiver so that I can stream videos from my NAS

Great Receiver at this price

This is a premium receiver at a mid range price. Highly recommend as the performance-features versus price beats anything else I could find.

Future Proof ; Can add a projector to my HT later with the 2nd HDMI ; Supports HDMI 1.4 and 3d HDMI passthrough ; YPAO setup was a breeze, it noticed I had reversed the wiring on my rear surround and I fixed it ; Preouts for 2 subs ; Zone 2 for outdoor...

Cons ; Unit is a little bigger than I expected, had to get a new entertainment center to get the advised 30cm top clearance ; Remote is not great, but solved with necessary universal remote anyways

Amazing Receiver, great price, perfect for your home theater!

I have no idea why there are 2 HDMI outs or how/why you'd use both? I'm running this with: -Polk Audio PSW505 sub -Polk Audio CS1 Series II -Polk Audio Monitor60 Series II x2 -Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II x2 -Polk Audio RM7 Satellite B x2 It...

Incredible Sound ; Future Proof (unlike the RX-V#71 series) ; YPAO for auto-calculated speaker levels ; Pandora, Internet Radio (Radio Swiss Jazz channel is soooo good!), Stream Bill Simmons podcast, Napster, Rhapsody, SIRIUS, & DLNA to connect to all...

No USB ports...The YDS-12 Dock & YID-W10 are a crock of ****, so overpriced....I just use my Blu Ray player's USB port since that runs through the receiver and has a nicer UI ; No built in WiFi, which doesn't really matter to me since my router is...

Great Receiver for the money

This is just a great receiver, and for the money, tough to beat. I have mine networked, and am using a Buffalo NAS unit for all the media content. Love the second zone, and the iphone/ipad app makes grilling in the backyard great, never have to go...

YAMAHA RX-V867 7.2-Channel Digital Network Home Theater Receiver

So far I like everything

I haven't figured out how to hook up the internet completely ; I don't like that the manual is on CD only

Very Nice

Set up your speakers and run all the speaker-wire 1st. Then set your components and run your HDMI'S over to where this units going. Label everything well, I used wire ties to bundle speaker wire, it'll keep it all neat and easier to work with. Also...

Incredibly fast shipping! Just as described. Sounds perfect and has tons of features, very nice processing

Great receiver for media pc, xbox, wii

Definitely not using this receiver to its full capabilities but am really happy to be able to upgrade all the other components and not have to worry about this for awhile. Paid $400.

Networked receiver. I love net radio. I control it frequently from my ipod with Yahama's app. Great sound and setup was easy. Currently running ; Xbox 360 in via HDMI ; Wii in via Component Cables ; Media PC in via HDMI ; all output to an LG TV via...

If only there was no HDMI Issues

If the Yamaha Receiver works for you without Video Drop Outs, the 867 is fantastic value for the money. However, make sure you are willing to take a risk on a $40 return shipping price and that you can only exchange the unit rather than request a...

A lot of BANG for the BUCK, 6 HDMI In, 2 HDMI Output, Streaming Music (Networking), YPAO and fantastic sound from both direct and Yamaha Sound Fields etc

To give you all the features, Yamaha skimped a little on the amp compared to previous models. HDMI Drop Out issues with Satellite Receiver and PS3 playing blu-ray, while everything works find when connected directly to my TV via HDMI. I contacted...
