Onkyo TX-SR508

The Onkyo SR508's lack of network features might put some people off, but if you can live without these, its new low pricing makes it a real bargain.

Good value for a 3D receiver, Really well built for its money, Good sound for its money

No network features, Next models up Onkyo’s range are tempting too, One or two operating glitches

Stopped working

Got a 'pop' today and the audio is gone. Heard the Onkyo had an HDMI board issue. I did a reset but I don't have anything. Not even radio. Video still works. Too much to spend for such a short life. I'm looking for another brand.

Worked for 4 years as advertised

Great features, but poor quality

Really glad that this was "free" with my speakers otherwise I would be incredibly upset that I paid good money for such junk. This was my first Onkyo and will definitely be my last. With so many good brands to choose from, why give them a second chance?

Came free with my speakers ; Lots of HDMI inputs ; Easy configuration ; 2 year warranty (as other review says - YOU'LL NEED IT)

Runs VERY hot. After about 2 months the audio started "fading" - would lose one or two speakers (they would cut in and out), then started to lose bass, then after a month or so of this the video starting cutting in and out intermittently, then cut out...

Don't Go Here

Onkyo's tech support was disappointing. I had trouble finding in the owner's manual how to manually adjust the audio delay to synchronize the voice audio with the lips of the speaker on the video. Onkyo's technical support person said that if my TV did...

On paper it seems a good value. The audio specifications and feature list are impressive for a reasonably priced AV Receiver. I gave two stars because apparently SOME units may actually work as described

In practice the receiver gets confused when sorting out audio signals and has HDMI video switching problems. I experienced the same "video flashing" problems of other reviewers. When playing a Blu-Ray DVD through the same Player the receiver sometimes...

Nice for the price

Very happy with the reciever.

For the price, this receiver is a very good buy. It has a lot of features. Easy to setup. Can be used to bi-amp the front speakers in 5.1 sound environment

Unit runs hot. The specs call for a good deal of clearance above the unit. Be aware of this requirement when placing in a cabinet

Upgrade from Sony HTIB

As a low budget Home Theater guy, buying this receiver paired with "free" Klipsh 500 5.1 surround speaker package for $399.00 seemed like a no brainer... and it has turned out to be a great decision on my part. The HDMI pass trough is just what my set...

Plenty of options ; HDMI Pass Through ; Plenty of Power

Have yet to have any issues

WTH

I LOVE my old Onkyo system and have watched many movies with my family and listened to music while cleaning the house with it. However, I had to upgrade because I bought a 3D television and BR player and wanted to watch TV with the best possible...

Great sound quality and picture is gorgeous. Love the ability to get 3D and the addition of HDMI 1.4 including the ability to rename the HDMI inputs to reflect the additional connected media. The ability to have the receiver and mic find the best...

It stopped allowing the connections to be seen by the television and didn't allow the other media to be seen or changed in order to be watched

Tricky setup with 2 zones

I used the setup microphone and got my 5.1 setup. I used the 2 zone feature to play music in my kitchen from my internet radio on my blu-ray. The sound and picture is wonderful. I can hear the difference between dvd and blu-ray now

When I set up the 2 zone feature it was a pain! I followed the directions and the only thing that could play through the zone 2 speakers was the radio. I wanted my internet radio through the blu-ray. I called Onkyo and spent 30 minutes on hold to speak...

great

Replaced an old Sony with this unit and am using the sony speakers and everything is just fine as far a great sound. Will be looking to upgrade speakers to fully enjoy the 7.1 surround experience.

Great sound and picture through the HDMI ports ; Setup is a breeze with the setup mic ; Newegg shiped it out fast

Runs a little warm but is to be expected. Other than that a really good unit for the price
