Yamaha RX-V675

But edging out its competitors in our subjective listening tests isn't quite enough to make the RX-V475 our top pick at the $400 price point. Differences in AV receiver sound quality tend to be subtle, and factors such as room acoustics and your choice...

The Yamaha RX-V475 offered the best sound quality in our subjective AV receiver listening tests. Its feature set is also decent for the price, with five HDMI inputs (including an MHL-compatible input), built-in AirPlay, and basic networking...

Some similarly priced receivers offer six HDMI inputs. The RX-V475 also has some confusing design choices, including an indecipherable remote and poorly laid out back panel. And the RX-V475's bulky design is hard to overlook when Marantz's NR1403 is...

Yamaha's RX-V475 is a great-sounding 5.1 receiver and a good value, although competitors offer better features and design.

Yamaha RX-V475 review: A great-sounding receiver, light on features

When we set up our first head-to-head listening tests with the latest crop of 2013 AV receivers, Yamaha's RX-V475 ($400 street) came out on top, besting Pioneer's VSX-823-K ($400) and even Denon's $600 AVR-E400 .

Yamaha RX-V675

The dynamic, full-bodied sound needs a couple of tweaks to make the RX-V675 reach its potential – but it's worth it

Dramatic sound with precise surround sound effects ; Expansive soundfield ; Streamed music is enjoyable ; DSP modes are effective ; Nice control app ; Sturdy build and finish

Rivals sound a touch more subtle and transparent ; Bass could be tauter

not recommended

Poor reliability, not recommended to anyone.

When it works, it's great.

Right after one year very light usage, probably turned on/off twice per week, it's broken. Everything from HDMI 1 channel is pink, and other hdmi channels are just black. Bypassed it everything works fine so clearly the receiver is no longer working.

WTH?

system sounded great and worked fantastically for about 9 months. nice and easy to operate

I watch TV or movies in my theater room 3-4 hours a week. during which time this system runs. it does not get cranked ever. not even close. while watching a blueray the system popped loudly, I lost video throughput and when I looked at the device it...

Impressive sound and performance for a value priced receiver!

I'd highly recommend this receiver!! For my modest priced 5.1 setup I don't think a pricier model (got it on sale under $200) would have given me any noticeable benefit. I've got most of my devices hooked up with HDMI except for broadcast TV which I...

Sound quality and volume output is great for my 5.1 system. I can easily blast the sound louder than I'd want to without deafening myself and it still sounds clear. It has a plethora of different optimization settings which seem helpful. There's even a...

The optical volume seems a bit quiet from some devices. May just be a limitation of older optical technology. Switched those devices over to HDMI instead which worked flawlessly.

What a deal!

I replaced a trusty old receiver that's served me for decades. It only had a single analog (6 RCA jacks) 5.1 input which I fed from a HTPC (3.5mm to RCA cables) so it served alright. I was just looking to remove some wire clutter and have something I...

Low price, lots of features, adjustable EQ per speaker, on-screen menus make adjustments easy, 4k and 3d passthrough, HDMI control (for supported components), and again THE PRICE

For a sub-$200 receiver I can't complain about anything. Power isn't incredibly high, but if your speakers require more you shouldn't even be looking in this range. The only thing I didn't like was the YPAO setup. I manually configured everything to my...

nice

I was surprised at the depth of the setup meu. You can get the sound you want out of this amp. It does not have any limitations that I can find. I bought it from Newegg as a refurb for 154. I am very happy with it and the sound options... and yes. It...

Hooking up speakers and peripherals is always a hassle... the connections are standard, not magical.

Worked Briefly

Good features for the price, plenty of inputs.

No HDMI pass-through when off, will not pass analog video through, and non-intuitive menus/settings. Worked for a short while, after adjusting HDMI settings- sounded great with surround. All sound output quit after a few days actually sing it on only a...
