Although not heavy on the frills, the Kaon KTF-570H SD Personal Video Recorder is an easy-to-use digital PVR and set-top solution.
Simple to use, neat remote
No HD support, lack of information stored with recordings
It's basic and easy to use, but don't ask for too much.

OK as a backup PVR as long as you know its limitations and can babysit it when it's on.... That is, don't go away for a week and expect to come home to all your recordings.
Lower price. Easy menu system. Well featured remote. Good picture and sound. Automatically set to continually record when on so you can always hit pause or rewind without needing to remember to record just in case you want to rewind.
Lower price, but still overpriced compared to the Wintal. Too buggy. Frequent crashes. Timer problem - When in timer mode it doesn't seem to know when to stop and just keeps recording until it fills up or you press stop. Also, if you set the timer for...

GARBAGE! Dont bother for digital recording. Picture quality is good though.
Auto Tune workes well. Good quality of picture. The Price.
Crashes constantly. has some serious glitches with sound and recording. some shows only play sound and no visual signal. as stated before crashes when using picture shuttle functions. User manual is frustratingly vague.

I think this is a good unit. It is the Strong 5290 in new clothing. It is more stable than the 5290 but still not as good as the 5390.
Good single tuners unit with a nice UI. Works reliably for me in Melbourne. Time shift is automatic. Picture anquality and games.
Does not lable recording with names only time and date. You don't get some features you get in the more expensive models.

Great Value for money.
The Good: Grate picture quality, nice menu system, easy to use, 10sec step button is very handy and the uinit is very cheap.
Does not label recordings automatically. Can not play while it records. Basic DVR.
