If you want to have an affordable scanner around for digitizing the occasional document or photo, then get the $65 CanoScan LiDE210. Its low price belies its impressive image quality.

A good, inexpensive and easy to set up scanner with modest dimensions, belying its ability to reproduce photos and document pages well.
Quick and generally above-average scans, ScanGear is effective scanner applet, Easy multi-page PDF creation
Very basic OCR, Trouble resolving black and white test pattern, Dust/scratch removal only passable

Great software interface, scans well for documents and pictures, saves in format you want, my computer CD tray is broken, so I downloaded the installation disk online, powered by USB so no power cord, scans quickly
So far none, better than my last scanner, an Epson

works just fine and it works fast.
you have to use the software that came with it.

Buy it.
USB - Power/Data in one cable. Excellent scans @ 4800 dpi for what I need it for.
Maybe... Just maybe, it would be awesome not to only be able to achieve above 1200 dpi scans without needing to use the proprietary software that it comes with. Not because it sucks but because I don't like the interface.

Great scanner for the price. Light and compact. Lover the USB interface cord
It does not scan negative film or color slides. It should have been prominantly noted in the product promo. I know we're not using film anymore but many of us have old film to copy. I just never expected it.

The scanner does not produce great quality when trying to scan newspaper articles or paper with wrinkles but otherwise gets the job done. I never used the other features with buttons
Bought about 1 year ago and still scans, I use it to scan documents and such thought acrobat adobe 8 and had no issues. Never really used the buttons just from adobe create document from scanner.
Easy to setup on Windows XP pro and compatible with Windows 2000 for those who use Windows 2000 for legacy software.

My LIDE 200 which was purchased 1/19/2009 died today so I figure it cost me approximately 24.58 per year to own which is not bad considering the huge amount of document scanning I do.
