Epson's Perfection V30 is an inexpensive flatbed scanner that boasts an optical resolution of 4800 dpi and 48-bit colors.
The V30 is just 1.6 inches thick and weighs less than 5 lbs. It connects to your Mac via USB 2.0 and requires an external power supply. It has four buttons that let you scan to file, copy (scan to printer), scan to e-mail, and scan to PDF from the unit...

A quick flick through recent issues of PC Advisor will tell you that standalone flatbed scanners aren't an item we review on a regular basis. While sheetfed document scanners still have an important job to serve in many an office (converting physical...
The V30 doesn't have everything – if you want a built-in transparency unit, for instance, you'll need to pay around £20 extra for the Perfection V300 – but the scan specifications and results are significantly ahead of those offered by most MFDs. For...

Entry level scanner from Epson does one thing very well.
Solid, consistent scanning results; good detailed reproduction of a range of photos and documents; 48-bit colour; simple user interface and scanner controls; ReadyScan LED technology promises energy efficient scanning; affordable, especially if you...
Higher resolution settings may be overkill for many; scanning smaller images at the same time only a partial success; no built-in Transparency Unit; Full Auto Mode interface looks dated
The V30 proved a hard-working, reliable scanner capable of producing solid and consistent results that are lacking in some jack-of-all-trades multifunction printers. Four user-friendly, one-touch scanning buttons and an intuitive interface typify...

At under £70, can the Epson V30 flatbed scanner compete with the scan facility on the more popular multi-function printers?
The V30 doesn't have everything – if you want a built-in transparency unit, for instance, you'll need to pay around £20 extra for the Perfection V300 – but the scan specifications and results are significantly ahead of those offered by most MFDs. For...

I have always been a fan of Epson products, and this one lives up to their reputation.

This is a great product and simple to use. Very easy instillation instructions and software. Install the software and just plug it in and operate. Does a great job and even allows you to adjust contrast to the digitized photos. Great buy for the price.

Easy setup and directions; This site is the only way to order. The scanner did everything I wanted it to do and more. Buy items from here.

Easy to set up and produces fast quality scans. Bought to replace old Visioneer 4400 that died. Nice to create multi-page pdf files. Highly recommended if all you need is a flatbed scanner.

Bought this after upgrading to windows 7 and my six year old microtek was no longer compatible. I chose this because of the reviews already there and price. Been using it for a month now and love it. My scans come out bright and clear, low noise, and...

Easy to use ; Decent included scanning software
Sometimes it can take a while to find the correct setting to help bring out faded text, but that isn't really a scanner problem
