The Fujitsu ScanSnap S300 offers both duplexing and an automatic document feeder in a portable scanner.
Portable. Duplexes. Automatic document feeder (ADF). Document and business card scanner.
No standard drivers, which means you can't scan from within most programs.

Fujitsu's ScanSnap S300 is the cutest, most minimalist sheetfed scanner ever. It's so perfectly tiny and well-proportioned that the snaking USB cable actually made me...
Decent software. Munchkin-small. Scans both sides of paper. Sheetfed. Scans with extraordinary quickness at low DPI
Doesn’t work on Macs. Maximum 600dpi. Needs 2 USB ports without AC. Good lord, nearly three hundred bucks? Really

Fujitsu's ScanSnap S300M takes the technology from the company's desktop document scanners, and puts it into a portable device. The S300M is speedy and easy to use, but it does have some limitations.
Unfortunately, Fujitsu doesn't bundle any OCR software with the S300M. However, since you can scan to a PDF file, you can use Adobe Acrobat's OCR Text Recognition feature

Fujitsu's ScanSnap S300 takes the technology from the company's well-received desktop document scanners, such as the ScanSnap S510M, and puts it into a device that's easier to carry from location to location.

The first question I asked myself is why anyone would buy a stand alone scanner when there are perfectly good general scanners that are included for very little extra when you buy a perfectly decent All In One unit
The software provided works with Windows XP, Vista or 7. I tested it for a good period on Windows Vista. But I also tried it on a Windows XP Netbook and just to be sure on a Windows 7 system all installed without problem

While a multifunction device can cover a range of eventualities, sometimes you just need the scanner element.
The popularity of multi-function, or all-in-one, devices has resulted in a drop in the number of standalone scanners available in the market. Rarely does a standalone scanner cross my desk but this is one of those occasions with the arrival of the...

Technology is now advanced enough to have shrunk the traditional large-footprint scanner down to something that resembles the dimensions of a family-sized bar of Toblerone. Fujitsu has come up with something different with the ScanSnap S300, ...
The S300 is aimed at a rather specific market, namely those who want to create digital copies of documents, and by not being TWAIN compatible it won't be for everyone. Despite being rather expensive it does do its job well, though, and if you want the...
