Relieve your paper trash stress with the ScanSnap!
Great value with included software. Easy to use.Well built
Office-sized documents only. Text recognition error may occur with 600dpi or more scans
My wife and I are at a point in our lives where we want to downsize and reduce clutter. With our music collection in iTunes and years of photos scanned and saved into iPhoto, attacking paper files seemed like the next logical step. The question is co

If you can afford it, ditch the flatbed for this

Flatbed scanners still offer the highest quality scans for graphics work. For document scanning, though, where you don't need fine graphics quality, machines like the ScanSnap are the better option...

Scanning on the Mac platform has always been way ahead (or on par, some will argue) with the PC platform, except in one area - document scanning. It comes as no surprise that many manufacturers see Mac owners as designers, and when developing their...

It is small enough to setup any anywhere, and take it with you for travel. If it jams (it is seldom) and easy to clear and it holds your place (page number) so you can start again without losing your place
Positively the weapon of choice to destroy those mounds of papers that you don't want to keep, but didn't want to toss either. Now you can scan them and shred them. Presto! This machine can scan about as fast as you can shred. I did a 32 page document...
Expensive, but not really for what it does, and how fast it does it

No idea how I lived without one.
If you want to scan documents, this is the scanner you're looking for. Comes with Acrobat Standard 7, which is also useful to have. Does both sides of a page in a few seconds, has almost never jammed
None I can think of

I have been looking to make this purchase for about 8 months, I wish I had done it then !
Works out of the box, very fast, (amazingly). Small Foot Print, single button use, I had been using an older HP Scanner to scan my records at home, this ScanSnap scans both sides of the paper in seconds
Only one potential thing to watch for is if you have multiple pages that have been folded, such as some credit card statements, the scanjet may try to feed two sheets at the time, but by turning the paper around, it worked fine

I just purchased the newer version of this scanner, the S500M. I did so reluctantly because I have switched to a Mac and my wonderful Canon DR-5380c scanner isn't supported. It won't even work with Windows running under Fusion.
Depiction smooth operation, quiet, fast, accurate

This is the best scanner I have ever purchased. It takes up little space on my desk and it scans at an amazingly fast rate. I had piles of documents needing to be scanned and this scanner took care of that project in a breeze!
