This was my first jump from an Illy pod machine. I wanted the simplicity of operation of a "superautomatic" and Saeco has a decent reputation with my friends. Took about 5 minutes to set up. The espresso is of average-good quality. I especially like...
Virtually "idiot proof". Easy to clean and do day to day maintenance. Priced very reasonably. Instant switch from steam to brew/ water
Not crazy about the selector dials

I was happy with the performance of the machine when it worked. You can control the granularity of the grind, the amount of ground coffee for the shot, the amount of water for your shot -- essentially you can tailor your espresso shot to your liking.
Easy to use. Make a couple of espresso shots and quickly start steaming milk. You can go back and forth instantly due to the dual heating elements, so no waiting for the heating element to cool off. Everyone in my small office loved the machine
The water boiler went bad after 18 months. Saeco's only authorized repair shop in the Los Angeles County has been waiting for parts for over 4 months. Machine has been collecting dust for 3 months. The machine does feel plasticky

Let me just start by saying, we are not coffee geeks!!
Makes very good espresso, easy to use for someone like me and my husband who want a fast cup in the morning. No waiting at all for the boiler to warm up (1 min. tops) and the steam is ready when your cup is finished pouring
Completly made of plastic, inside and out. The plastic knobs for adjusting the amount of coffee you want have about a 4 point "play". So you have to just turn until you feel the tention on it. Sounds like you really have to keep up the maintenance. ...

I have this machine for more then 2 years. Every single day it produce at least 4 cups of coffee. On weekend much more. When I have friends in my house this is the real focal point of the party - they always remember cappuccino that they had in my...
Consistently produce very good espresso (girding level, coffee portion, water temperature should be adjusted) ; Consistently produce very good milk froth for cappuccino (thermometer should be used) ; Easy to use and maintain - automatic clean up and...
There is only one coffee type can be loaded - more expensive model have 2 and allow you to load preground coffee ; There is no ability to control tamping (actually the same true for expensive machines as well...

Had it for 6 years and it still makes great coffee. Tried to replace it with the Incanto Sirius ($1500 machine), but I like the taste of my expresso's with the Vienna Deluxe better. I have my dose adjusted to the maximum setting (+), the grinder is...
Very descent expresso ; Dose adjustment ; Relatively inexpensive for all its features
Gets somewhat dirty inside ; Frothing capability is just ok ; No bypass doser
Consumer review (coffeegeek.com)
I got a superautomatic as my sister loves latte's, but hates the hassle of making it. For making milk based drinks, I don't think you can notice the difference between the espresso quality in a semi-automatic vs a superautomatic.
Removable brew group
This is the low end of the superautomatics, so there's no frills like adjustable temp, dosage, bypass doser, etc ; Lots of plastic
Consumer review (coffeegeek.com)
I came back to this site to review this product because many people are driven to write reviews only when they have had a bad experience. I have liked this coffeemaker in every way. And it only took me about one day to get used to the plastic. In...
Ease of use, consistent product, reliability, speed of heat-up
Lots of parts to clean, plastic seems cheap until you get used to it (about one day)

great coffee
high maintenance, breaks down easily, expensive to ship for repair
Consumer review (coffeegeek.com)
I lucked out and got a demo floor model ( unused - just was on display ) from a WWW seller for $440 + s/h. I did not want to be bothered with the manual tasks invoilved in grinding, tamping and all the other associated tasks involved with making an...
Ease of use - great tasting coffee, espresso, etc - great value for the price
no cup warmer - not a big deal, I just preheat the cup with hot water from the machine before I make my coffee
Consumer review (coffeegeek.com)
Bought this to replace a machine I managed to break while repairing it... Anyway, it was the best price I could find at the time, and a bonus was that it was automatic.
Simple to operate, quick moderately consistent shots
Very poor quality
