This heart rate fitness tracker in a watch is the design Fitbit should have made

Long battery life and a subtle look: The Withings Steel HR is swim-friendly and low-key.

Sleek, sharp design. Long battery life. Seamless pairing and automatic fitness tracking. Fifty-meter water resistance.

Tiny OLED second screen hard to read, and doesn't automatically turn on. Erratic heart rate tracking. Withings' Health Mate app isn't as socially connected as Fitbit. Limited phone notifications hard to read.

The Withings Steel HR comes as close as we've ever seen to an everyday watch with full heart rate fitness tracking, but it's not quite as good as it looks.

Withings Steel HR

The Withings Steel HR is one of the finest-looking 24/7 fitness trackers with smartwatch features, but it falls short in its heart rate readings.

Sophisticated unisex look. Good balance of features. Discreet LCD for notifications. Lightweight. Swappable bands. Waterproof.

Inaccurate heart rate readings in testing. No idle alert. Can't correct sleep and wake times.

Attractive and with a great balance of features, the Withings Steel HR wins on style. But if you're a stickler for accuracy, the built-in heart rate monitor will be a major disappointment, as will the inability to correct your sleep and wake times....

Withings Steel HR Sport hybrid smartwatch review – The Gadgeteer

I've tried several smartwatches and fitness trackers over the years and when it comes to smartwatches, I find them to be too bulky both physically and digitally. I don't want to run apps on my watch. I already have a phone with a much larger display...

Long battery life!;Easy to use;Just the features you need to track your activity along with some smart features

Review: Steel HR Sport, Withings is back with a sportier version of its hybrid

Review: Steel HR Sport. The upgraded device still comes with Connected GPS, a Fitness Level assessment via VO2 Max estimation and better watch straps.

Beautiful design ; Long battery life ; Connected GPS and VO2 Max ; Accurate tracking of activity ; Comfortable strap

OLED screen is small ; Limited notifications ; Pricey

Withings Steel HR Sport Review: A Fitness Tracker You'll Actually Wear

I was very glad to see Withings return after Nokia's bumbling. And, for better and worse, not much has changed with the new Steel HR Sport. Among fitness trackers, it has a design that doesn't scream, "I'm a fitness tracker," making it blend in better...

Great design ; Long battery life ; Clean, intuitive app

Flimsy charging cradle ; OLED screen hard to read in sunlight ; Fewer features than Fitbit Charge

We really like the look of the Withings Steel HR Sport as well as its 20-day battery life, but it's expensive for the features you get.

Withings returns to wearables with the Steel HR Sport hybrid smartwatch

French company Withings used to make a line of fitness trackers and health-related devices, before dipping its toes in the smartwatch space with a line of wristwatches that had activity-tracking features and support for displaying smartphone...

Overall I tend to think of Withing’s watches more as fitness-tracking wristwatches than true “smartwatches,” but that’s not necessarily a bad thing And the support for smartphone notifications is certainly a nice addition to a device that gets...

Nokia Steel HR review: A hybrid watch with a new name but old issues

Nokia's update to the Withings Steel HR is more than just cosmetic, but the company lets one notable weakness to continue to ride.

Stylish, elegant design and compatible with standard sizes of watch bands ; Excellent battery life ; Water resistant

Inconsistent automatic exercise tracking ; Inaccurate data for activity and sleep tracking ; Official leather bands for 36mm size watch are still too large for small wrists

Nokia’s minor reworking of the Withings Steel HR makes for a hybrid watch that will appeal more to watch lovers than data lovers.

Withings Steel HR Review: Best-Looking Fitness Tracker Yet

The Withings Steel HR does many of the same things as the Fitbit Charge 2 : It monitors your heart rate throughout the day and night, can track individual activities automatically, and measures your steps, calories, distance traveled and sleep. It will...

Long battery life ; Elegant design ; Water-resistant ; Accurate heart-rate monitor

Hard to read the display while running

The elegant Withings Steel HR is an analog watch hiding a great fitness tracker.

Withings Steel HR Hybrid Smartwatch Review

We've talked a fair bit about Fossil's hybrid smartwatches lately, but it was Withings that got the ball rolling in 2014 with the Activité, an analog watch with fitness tracking sensors and a Bluetooth module hidden inside. That watch demonstrated the...

Withings does the hybrid smartwatch right with the Steel HR

Smartwatches aren't for everyone. That much has been clear since day one, a fact seemingly confirmed by a recent stagnation in the space. Too many are designed to be once-size-fits-all, but ultimately are just too bulky and flashy with too many battery...

for the 36 mm and $200 for the 40 mm, the Steel HR is pretty much inline with other hybrid smartwatches out there. It’s a well-designed piece of hardware that gains a lot of points for simplicity, while making good on its smartwatch promises.
