The 128GB Plextor PX-128M2S solid-state drive offers modest capacity and modest performance at a modest price.

Supports 6Gbps SATA III. Includes Acronis TrueImage software.

Slower than higher-capacity drives. No 3.5-inch mounting bracket included.

Plextor M2 Series 128GB SATA 6Gbps Marvell SSD Review

 

While the Plextor M2 Series puts up some nice performance numbers and offers the SATA 6Gbps interface, consumers will likely gravitate towards the newest SandForce controlled drives simply due to their sheer speed advantage.

Can this second generation SSD drive hold its own in a crowded market?

Sequential read performance ; 6Gbps interface

Overall performance isn't consistent across the board ; It's a bit pricey

Plextor is not normally a name you'd associate with super-fast solid state drives, but here it is with its first SATA 6Gbps drive, the Plextor PX-128M2S.

Plextor is probably best known for its optical storage products such as DVD and Blu-ray drives, but with the M2S solid-state drive series, it looks intent on making a name in SSD storage too.

Plextor PX-256M2S solid-state drive supports SATA 6 Gbps and give very good performance. The drive works with any application where regular SATA 2.5 inch hard disk are used.

And though it would hide inside laptops where nobody can see it, the company has still given it an attractive metal brushed exterior finish. The drive supports SATA 6 Gb/s interface, which is supposed to provide higher throughput and faster data...

The SSD is ideal for those who want capacity with decent performance on their notebooks, and are willing to pay a premium for it.

Lasted 10 months

 

Won't boot past the windows splash screen. Windows System Repair disk finds no problems. Tried to reinstall Windows, but on restart, begins the entire install again. $217 for 10 months worth of use? OUCH!!

Not a single problem

 

Nice to have a silent computer.... no HD rattling away when you do something. I've installed the quietest fans i could find, and set-up Fan Xpert so they only run as fast as they need to. Win7 64 Pro. Sabertooth X58 Motherboard Intel Core I7 960 3.2ghz...

Win7 64 boots to internet in 45 seconds from pressing the power button. Only getting 6.9 on WEI, even though it's running SATA III @ 6gps. I probably need to update the firmware, but i'm happy the way it's running now. I waited 4 months to review it to...

Don't think there is one..... Price? You get what you paid for, so price isn't a con
