Samsung's 850 Evo offers a great balance of price and performance, and it's available in super-sized 2TB form

Samsung is updating its SATA SSD product line by adding new 2TB options to the 850 Pro and 850 Evo families. Are they any better than the existing models?

Facilitated by the industry's most mature 3D NAND technology and a new controller, Samsung brings you their new 2TB 850 EVO and PRO SSDs.

Samsung leads the way at the top end of the consumer SSD market thanks to its control of every aspect of the research, design and production of its drives. This advantage was amply demonstrated by its most recent 850-series drives that offer excellent...
Mammoth 2TB capacity ; Almost matches Pro drive for speed
Hugely expensive ; Other SSDs have better warranties ; More speed available elsewhere
The Samsung's 2TB version of the 850 Evo offers superb capacity and it virtually matches the 850 Pro drive for speed. If the better warranty and endurance rating of the Pro are a non-issue for you, then this is the SSD to go for.

The latest drive to join Samsung's family of SSDs is the SSD990 EVO Plus, a Gen 4 x4 drive with a DR
Overall performance.
Tested 4K performance couldn’t match the official maximum figures.

Samsung's New 990 EVO Attempts to find the balance between performance and power.
Relatively good all-around and sustained performance ; Samsung software support and warranty ; Interesting interface modes
Questionable MSRP ; Lackluster power efficiency and idle consumption
The Samsung 990 EVO tries to be too many things at once, falling short of the EVO name. Performance isn’t bad, but the drive’s power efficiency leaves something to be desired.

W e pity the poor SSD makers who have to face off against Samsung. The Korean giant has dominated solid state storage since releasing the original 850 Pro back in July of last year, highlighting the benefits that come when every component is built...
"Samsung’s dominance of the SSD world appears unshaken."

It's fast. I run Windows and Linux as Parallels virtual machines on a 7-year old Macbook Pro, and it flies like a new 2017 Macbook.
None really - except the price....

I did my research and decided on this over all other SSDs because I use the 850 Evos with my PCs. Very happy with the speed of this one, plus it came with a free copy of Assassins Creed Origins that I didn’t even know about! BONUS

Only just got it so too early to comment on reliability.
