Altec Lansing T612 review: Altec Lansing T612

Altec Lansing T612

GSM-shielded iPod dock allows iPhone to be used without the need to switch it to airplane mode; attractive design; decent sound, with richer bass than you would expect from a speaker system that's this compact; music pauses and resumes before and after...

No radio; no video output; wireless remote offers limited functionality.

While it's missing a couple of key features found in competing models, the T612 distinguishes itself with a sleek design, decent sound, and some mobile phone anti-interference technology that makes the system particularly appealing to iPhone owners.

Altec Lansing T612

Altec Lansing's T612 eliminates the need to put your iPhone in airplane mode to hear music through the dock's speakers, but it has some sonic limitations.

Full iPhone functionality. Bass/treble controls. Useful remote. Well-balanced audio output.

Bass distorts at mid-to-high volumes. No TV-out. No speakerphone abilities. No menu navigation on remote. ; Watch the Altec Lansing T612 Video Review!

Altec Lansing T612 Speaker System

The iPhone, probably one of the most popular gadgets out there right now. It is great because it is many devices in one, but 2 majorly, a phone and a MP3 player. Before I had my iPhone I would carry a phone and MP3 player with me, now just the iPhone....

Quality made, - Great sound, - Works with iPhone, - Included remote

None that I found

The Altec Lansing T612 is a very solid product. It does everything it is supposed to do and does it very well. Not just your typical iPod speaker system the T612 also supports the iPhone so when calls come in the sound will mute and the speakers will...

Altec Lansing T612 iPod System

Introduction When a classy and elegant look is key, Altec Lansing is there for you. We are pleased to introduce to you the Altec Lansing T612. In a world where nearly half of all Americans have iPod's, one could only expect to have a docking station...

There are two pieces of solid styrofoam that hold the Altec Lansing T612 in place. On top of that there is a padded pouch that the system is wrapped in and taped shut. The wires that are included are placed into the side of one of the styrofoam blocks...

Review: Altec Lansing's T612 iPhone speaker system

The best thing about smartphones is that they're an all-in-one solution. Not only are they great phones, but they're also great music and video players. Of course, the best sound doesn't come out of the phone itself and is instead experienced either...

Review: Altec Lansing T612 Digital Speaker System for iPhone and iPod

When the portable inMotion speaker designers at Altec Lansing released the non-portable M602 Digital iPod Speaker System a year and a half ago, the appeal was obvious: as a combination of metal-grilled speakers and an iPod dock, M602 offered an audio...

The first Works With iPhone-certified speaker system, packing audio shielding and electronics guaranteed to properly charge and perform audio from an iPhone without wireless antenna interference-the only such option available as of press time. Based...

Audio quality is good but not great for the $200 asking price, given recent competition from aggressive $150-$200 alternatives. Requires user calibration to approximate SoundDock's out-of-box sound ; low-end isn't as impressive and continues to distort...

As of the date of this review, Altec Lansing's T612 has no competition as a Works With iPhone speaker system: it's your only option if you want a unit that is guaranteed to provide appropriate power, shielding, and nearly seamless handling for the...

The T612 is a pretty good buy. I like it because it didn't have any surprises. It's pretty basic and simple, which is good. It probably could have come with a radio or maybe some more features like a clock or alarm. But I wasn't really looking for...

Great sound ; Solid, cool construction ; Easy to use ; GSM interference not a problem

No radio (although you can use Pandora/Last.fm apps on your iPhone or iTouch) ; In order to answer a call you have to remove the iPhone from the system
