The Cambridge Audio TV 5 is a solid, unassuming sound slab with plenty of movie power and no distortion but occasional issues with buzz.

The TV5 (v2) is a revamped version of Cambridge Audio's superb TV5 soundbase from 2015. This new sub-TV speaker has undergone a number of tweaks, including the addition of HDMI ARC – the absence of which we bemoaned in our original review.

The TV5 is an upgraded version of Cambridge Audio's TV2 soundbase, designed to support larger TVs. With its increased size and extra subwoofer, it aims to take the TV2's impressive performance to the next level, delivering a loud, powerful sound that...
Refined, well-balanced and detailed sound ; Powerful, punchy bass output ; Robust build quality
No-frills design ; No HDMI inputs ; No text-based readout
Surely they should have put an hdmi connection in if just for the ability to control volume with the tv remote.

It might lack a display, but this soundbase is sonically superb
Tight bass ; Full midrange ; Large, fluid dynamics ; Good amount of insight ; HDMI connectivity
Lack of display ; Remote could be nicer
A sonically superb soundbase from the bass to the treble – with sturdiness and style to boot

A better buy than ever – the budget soundbase market has a newfound champion
Big, powerful sound Punchy bass Dynamic and detailed Digital and analogue inputs Good price Refined, well balanced delivery with movies and music
Remote a little basic No HDMI
Cambridge Audio describes the TV5 as a “step up in size and sound” from the TV2, and they’re right on both counts. The extra driver and bigger chassis do wonders for the TV5’s performance. If you can accommodate the TV5’s larger size, you’ll hear the...

A solid, energetic and confident stereo performance from an unassuming TV booster. Not the last word in attacking delivery, and an HDMI input would have been nice.

Compared with competing sound bases, the Cambridge Audio TV5 comes up short on features and its sound feels lightweight.
The affordable Cambridge Audio TV5 exhibited well-defined, natural-sounding dialog. Its remote control is a cut above, and the optical digital and Bluetooth connectivity options should satisfy most buyers.
The sound lacks bass punch, and can tend to be too bright with music, especially at volume. Lacks both Dolby and DTS processors, bass or treble controls, or controls on the unit itself.
The Cambridge Audio TV5 sound base produces detailed, natural sound, but comes up short on features and lacks the bass impact of competitors.

Cambridge Audio’s TV sound solution sits under your TV, with big downward-firing speakers delivering enjoyably full bass.

Having read good reviews for Cambridge Audio TV5 V2 I have not been disappointed so far, apart from the broken pegs on the front grille which I was told about - it is an open box purchase anyway. I am in my first day and pushing a variety of sources...
